Who you are
- The ideal BDR candidate will have a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience, be tenacious, outgoing, well-spoken, tech-savvy, and a native language speaker for their region
- The ability to understand and explain technical information in simple terms is required
- The candidate preferably has a Cybersecurity background and will be well-versed in using Salesforce and other sales tools
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth start-up environment where constant learning and applying that knowledge, is a must

- Proven track record in cold calling with a minimum of 1-3 years’ experience within the IT industry and/or selling cybersecurity products, especially SaaS offerings
- Knowledge of sales and marketing principles and strategies
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications, particularly Salesforce, Marketing Automation software (Outreach.io, Zoominfo, Navigator etc.), and Microsoft Office & Google Suite
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
What the job involves
- The Sr. Business Development Representative will be on the front line with prospects, partners, and customers
- Cold call and qualify sales leads and schedule appointments for sales staff to meet qualified prospects
- Lead Management/nurture, including tracking, follow-up, and converting in Salesforce.com
- Deliver Menlo’s sales pitch and technology to potential customers, tailor those pitches to the specific needs of the potential customer, and answer questions accordingly
- Use Salesforce to track meetings, opportunities converted, and record prospect details
- Invite and schedule prospects for targeted Menlo field events
- Work on Target Account Programs to penetrate large Enterprise Accounts
- Work closely with Field Sales to continuously nurture accounts
Our take
Menlo Security takes a “zero trust” approach to computer threats by isolating all of a business’s web browsing and putting it on a remote server. Instead of depending upon software to scan and search for threats, it prevents attacks from ever reaching the system. Browsing activity no longer takes place on the end user’s device, instead, it all happens on a remote cloud service which is operated by the company. This service is the largest secure web gateway in the world.
Menlo Security has focused on protecting businesses from web and email attacks, and its model means that it can be integrated with most popular browsers. A particularly appealing aspect of its service is that it doesn’t require businesses to install new software or change their approach, drastically reducing friction for users and making onboarding a far simpler experience.
Currently used by 8 out of 10 of the world's largest banks and capable of completely stopping up to 90% of threats, Menlo Security is in a strong position. It is still continuing to develop its services, however, most recently building out a range of AI-powered tools to detect and prevent phishing and ransomware attacks. Moves like this seem likely to help keep Menlo Security at the forefront of its sector.
