Who you are

  • A university degree in a relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer in a B2B SaaS environment
  • Great storytelling abilities and proven experience in value-based selling
  • Experience and knowledge of the supply chain industry, understanding its unique challenges and opportunities
  • Strong technical acumen and the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and/or Python (intermediate level), enabling you to create and manipulate data for demonstrations and proofs of concept
  • Proven experience and knowledge of networking and APIs, ensuring seamless integration and communication between systems
  • Experience with intelligence and business intelligence (BI) tools, along with familiarity with Salesforce, Slack, and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and executive audiences, making complex technical information accessible and persuasive
  • The ability to correlate a customer's specific business problems with Altana Technologies’ solutions, demonstrating how our offerings can address their needs
  • A passion for tackling complex global trade, supply chain, compliance, and risk challenges, driven by an intrinsic motivation to make a meaningful impact
  • Proximity to or the ability to commute to our Williamsburg hub in Brooklyn, NY, at least 4 days a week, ensuring regular in-person collaboration with the team
  • The ability to travel when needed to meet customers on-site, providing personalized support and fostering strong relationships

What the job involves

  • As a Sales Engineer at Altana Technologies, you'll be at the forefront of our sales initiatives, playing a crucial role in translating technical jargon into practical value for our clients and partners
  • This position reports directly to the Enterprise Sales Engineering manager and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our growing business
  • Own the technical relationships with prospective customers, acting as the primary technical contact throughout the pre-sales process
  • Conduct technical presentations of Altana’s solutions and future vision to executives and IT leaders at prospective customers
  • Develop, build, and perform live, compelling demonstrations of our products
  • Lead the development and execution of Proof of Concepts (POCs), Proof of Values (POVs), and pilot projects to showcase the effectiveness of our solutions
  • Collaborate closely with a team of sales executives to develop strategies and ensure alignment in addressing customer needs and driving sales opportunities
  • Provide pre-sales technical support and guidance, effectively addressing customer inquiries and resolving any technical issues that arise during the sales process
  • Build dashboards with data using Databricks to provide impactful visualizations and insights during demonstrations and pilots
  • Develop and deliver high-quality proposals, technical documentation, and other sales-related materials to assist and expedite the sales cycle

The idea is that this will help businesses and governing powers optimize global commerce which, over the past few years, has shot up on the list of international priorities. With three quarters of businesses reporting recent supply chain disruptions, and governments increasingly concerned with mitigating security threats, data-driven visibility is more sought after than ever before.

Crucially, the platform doesn’t require data sharing to create global intelligence, instead using a federated machine learning approach. This is a nut many big-data companies have been trying to crack, and Altana AI’s success has attracted the company interest from top-tier investors like Google Ventures and Floating Point alongside contracts with the UK Department of Business & Trade. A number of other headline enterprises and government agencies are already on the company's customer roster.
