Role
Who you are
- Experience - 6+ years building scalable, microservice-based front end components using JavaScript frameworks
- Education - Ideally looking for a B.A. / B.S. degree in relevant fields such as Computer Science or similar Engineering/Mathematics degrees
- Technical aptitude - You’re technologically savvy and can easily get up to speed on modern tech stacks (atomic architecture, React components, GraphQL, Node.js, TypeScrip, and AWS)

What the job involves
- Altruist is in the midst of an exceptional growth phase and we’re excited to hire Staff Front End Engineers to join our growing Engineering organization
- Work with product, design, and business teams to clearly understand requirements and turn them into technical design
- Present designs to the technology team with clear breakdowns of tasks and deliverables
- Lead with engineering best practices and make decisions based on definable metrics
- Define the architecture for systems with a clear vision for both short- and long-term business needs
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, autonomy, and open communication across teams
- Coach and mentor junior developers and take responsibility for meeting deadlines for your team’s deliverables
- Uphold strong levels of integrity for accuracy, data quality, and uptime — we are dealing with real people's money, and we take that seriously

The world of wealth management is changing fast, and financial advisors are feeling the strain. Between managing client expectations, navigating complex regulations, and keeping up with endless admin tasks, there's little time left for what really matters, helping clients make smarter financial decisions. And that's where Altruist comes in, set out to modernize custodial services, making it easier and more efficient for advisors to manage portfolios, handle compliance, and deliver great client experiences without getting buried in paperwork or outdated systems.
Its a technology-driven custodian built specifically for financial advisors and it combines powerful digital tools with custody services to simplify how advisors run their businesses. The company recently launched HAzel, and AI-powered assistant designed to take on the day-to-day tasks that slow advisors down (think note-taking, email drafting, and meeting summarising). Hazel even pulls insights from firm data, emails, and documents to give personalized, context-aware answers to questions. And by integrating tools like Salesforce and Redtail., Hazel acts like a smart teammate that helps advisors stay organized and focused on clients.
Like many fast-growing tech firms, Altruist has had to make some tough decisions along the way. The company recently laid off around 15% of its workforce as part of a plan to sharpen its focus on the most impactful parts of its business. Deepsite that, CEO Jason Wenk says Altruist is having a record with assets up 50%, revenue per employee climbing 70%, and a clear path to profitability. With this strong growth, zero debt, and the rollout of Hazel, Altruist is proving it can innovate and scale sustainably.
