Who you are
- You will be hands on, have a strong understanding of visual systems and best practices, including layout, color palette, typography, iconography and illustrations
- You are at ease visualizing an experience in the abstract, building consensus, and then driving that vision into concise design deliverables
- 8+ years of design experience
- Have an available online portfolio
- Experience with design tools such as Figma and Adobe CC
Desirable
- Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes
- Experience with UX design of complex workflows
- Experience with Hands on Visual Design
- A well-crafted portfolio that demonstrates experience creating innovative visual design solutions

- The Alexa Experiences & Services team is looking for a Senior User Experience Designer to work on Personality Experiences as well as other exciting Alexa projects
- The Alexa Personality designer will support the Alexa Experiences and Services team to enhance the customer’s experience by anticipating their needs or current context — and meet those needs with information, suggestions, and/or actions in the most appropriate interaction modalities and CX across multiple product surfaces
- This Senior UX Designer will work on innovative Alexa features and revise existing features
- You will create elegant, intuitive user interfaces that meet unique customer needs
- You will work closely with other designers, researchers, product management, engineering, data science and operational teams to successfully go from early stage product concepts to iterations and launches of new features
- As a tastemaker and visual storyteller, you will advocate for design excellence and help create meaningful, emotional connection between customers and our products
- Each day, you will connect and collaborate with designers and researchers across the Alexa team
- You’ll work directly with product managers to understand requirements, and develop design concepts that will be reviewed with leadership
- You’ll also work with software teams to deliver detailed visual and interaction specifications

Amazon is the world's largest online retailer, and is well-known for its disruption of well-established industries. The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.
More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.
Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
