Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 4+ years of professional experience in mechanical design
- Demonstrated experience with spacecraft level mechanical architecture design, as well as component design for space mechanisms, and packaging electronics for the space environment
- Demonstrated a strong knowledge in mechanical GD&T
- Experience with configuration control, MES and PLM tools
- Proficiency in CAD tools, such as SolidWorks
- Passion for the space industry
- Proven ability to lead projects from concept to delivery in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain or obtain TS//SCI clearance
Desirable
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering
- 5+ years of experience in development and production of space systems
- Experience in or exposure to mechanical design for propulsion systems, mechanisms, and/or payloads
- Track record of innovative problem-solving in complex mechanical designs
- Experience working in a startup or similarly dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with full vehicle lifecycle from concept through production
What the job involves
- As a Mechanical Engineer at True Anomaly, you will be responsible for designing mechanical assemblies for flight systems and other ground support mechanisms in the development of our spacecrafts. This is an opportunity to design and develop our next generation LEO/GEO vehicles, shaping the future of space exploration from the ground up
- Support the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems and structures for advanced satellites, ensuring they meet performance, weight, and reliability requirements
- End-to-end development of mechanical structures, from concept and prototyping to qualification and flight hardware delivery
- Develop detailed and organized 3D CAD models for spacecraft components, subsystems, and assemblies
- Create detailed piece part and assembly drawings of flight components
- Work collaboratively with structural, thermal, and propulsion teams during analyses to validate designs and ensure compliance with mission requirements
- Support build/assembly and test campaigns of flight systems
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency, manufacturability, and system performance
- Physical demands may include frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting or carrying items up to 20lbs

True Anomaly is a space tech startup composed of former military operators and engineers. The Colorado-based company is focused on building spacecraft and software solutions designed to secure U.S. commercial and military interests in space. It has already developed a fully-integrated platform with seamless satellite, navigation, and data-capture technologies that provide security and training for the quickly evolving space market.
Founded in 2022, True Anomaly has already designed its first spacecraft, the Jackal Autonomous Orbital Vehicle, which can be used to train operators on the ground or as intelligence-gathering tools against adversarial spacecraft. Alongside this, the startup has built a 35,000-square-foot facility in Denver to manufacture the Jackals.
With impressive capital gained in 2023 and 2025, the company validated the Jackal's technical and operational capabilities and made the necessary investments to scale production. And with its most recent capital injection, the company is ready to fund space missions and further scale its operations.
