Who you are
- 5+ years of professional front-end engineering experience
- Ability to write high-quality and unit-tested JavaScript
- Comfortable debugging and profiling web apps with browser dev tools
- Care about code quality, user experience, and visual design
- Experience in the networking domain is NOT a requirement for this role but is a plus
Desirable
- Mastery of CSS and HTML fundamentals
- Familiarity with the latest CSS layout standards (flexbox, grid)
- Comfortable working directly with Web APIs and the DOM
- Experience building single-page applications using at least one of the major front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue)
- A good eye for visual design; you get annoyed when things aren't pixel-perfect
- Knowledge of patterns and best practices related to interaction design and information architecture
- Experience designing and integrating with REST APIs
- Comfortable with version control, continuous integration, and pre-commit code reviews
What the job involves
- Forward Networks is looking for a front-end engineer to join our UI team and help us build new features for our flagship web application
- In this position you will have the opportunity to use the latest web technologies to build a beautiful, highly-interactive, single-page web application that’s currently used by some of the world’s largest companies to help manage their business-critical network infrastructure
Our take
The rapid flow of data from inside and outside organisations has rendered top-down planning difficult, and often ineffective, especially in an enterprise network setting. Forward Networks provides a solution by creating digital twins of a company's network architecture so planners and developers can see how their activities will affect operations across the entire network.
Although digital twinning is relatively new, there is already intense competition for this space. Forward Networks has carved out a unique niche in focusing on enterprise networks rather than the organisation as a whole, a focus which is needed given the complexity of modern hybrid networks which can span several cloud environments.
In 2023, Forward Networks completed a Series D funding round led by MSD Partners, with participation from Goldman Sachs, one of its long-term customers. This investment has supported the business in further developing its product, expand the services available to its customers, and scaling its core team.
