Who you are

A degree in Graphic, Communication or UI Design - or equivalent real-world experience.
Confidence designing for both screen and print, pairing strong layout and typography skills with an accessibility mindset; familiarity with WCAG 2.0 AA web standards is a plus.
Some Figma know-how, including shared libraries and prototyping
A knack for turning complex info into clean, reader-friendly assets - then turning those polished layouts into reusable templates the whole team can pick up without fuss
Working knowledge of the Affinity suite
At least some hands-on experience shaping web interfaces
Eagle-eye attention to detail and a willingness to push ideas until they’re right

Desirable

Ability to read or tweak basic HTML/CSS/JavaScript
Familiarity with core UX heuristics and testing methods
A portfolio that jumps between campaign creative, brand work and product UI - and explains the thinking behind each piece

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Mid-Weight Designer with at least 2-3 years experience who can switch comfortably between marketing comms and product UI. You’ll collaborate closely with both our tech and marketing teams - drawing on strong layout and typography skills, familiarity with print production and Figma-based design systems - shaping campaign assets one day and refining app screens the next
Marketing & events – Design high-impact print pieces and large-format displays - flyers, posters, stand graphics - that arm our sales team at events, draw people in, and quickly tell the story of what we offer
Social presence - Plan and design scroll-stopping posts, stories, and paid-ad units that express our brand’s personality, grab attention in the feed, and drive clicks and engagement
Slide decks & promos - Turn data and copy into polished presentations and ad-sets for product launches and nurture campaigns
Customer resources - Create clear, on-brand how-tos, one-pagers and support docs so users can get more from the platform
Product UI - Work under the guidance of our Lead Front-end designer to refine user flows, polish component states, keep the shared Figma library tidy, and hand clear specs to our developers
Design systems - Build flexible templates and guidelines so the wider team can spin up on-brand collateral without guesswork

Overton has built one of the world’s largest searchable indexes of policy documents, think tank publications, working papers and guidelines in a bid to help universities and other research teams measure how their work influences policy-making decisions.

Given the fact that Overton has built a pioneering product, and is targeting sales from well-funded universities, NGOs and government agencies, its prospects are pretty bright. The company is focused on refining its software to ensure source coverage, and introducing new features.
