Who you are
- BS in a STEM related field, Advanced degree are a definite plus
- Over 10 years of experience in the audio simulation domain
- Over 5 years of experience in leading teams
- Proven record in planning, execution, and shipping high-quality audio products
- Background in the gaming industry or developing audio technologies for games
- Experience in system engineering, understanding of scale, reliability, and quality
- Knowledge of the physics of sound propagation. You also love to pick up new technologies as the landscape evolves
What the job involves
- You will oversee the team responsible for the core audio fundamentals in Roblox' game engine and it to the next level at a massive scale
- You'll lead the technical vision and execution of our upcoming Audio platform. Think of simulating 10k users cheering during a concert –with acoustics that sound differently automatically based on if it's an indoor or outdoor concert- while performers create compelling new music experiences
- Report directly into the Director
- Have already built and deployed a real time audio system for a large consumer application and are not afraid of any part of the technical stack
- Take a creative and strategic approach to solving hard problems. You are an and try to find new approaches to solve the problems
- Lead the definition and implementation of our next gen real time immersive audio simulation platform
- Balance researching new technologies with a practical approach
- Manage other engineers by example and through technical direction
- Partner and collaborate with different teams and deliver a scalable product
- Ensure the team is well set up to succeed and operate with the right processes
- Work cross-team, with people, and have an experience creating detailed technical documentation in yours and their technical domain
- Manage technical teams in vague situations and in a environment
- Work in a Hybrid environment (3 days in office)
