Role
Who you are
- 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources, with exposure to generalist or business partner functions
- Knowledge of employment laws, HR operations, and compliance requirements
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, SuccessFactors, or similar)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to support employees and managers effectively
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
What the job involves
- The People Business Generalist II provides broad support across the People function, assisting with employee relations, policy administration, onboarding, and HR processes. This role supports People Business Partners and People leadership in delivering consistent programs and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment regulations
- The Senior Generalist contributes to process improvements, employee engagement initiatives, and day-to-day operations that enable a positive employee experience
- Support People Business Partners in administering HR programs, policies, and processes
- Provide guidance to employees on HR procedures, benefits, and policies, escalating complex issues as needed
- Assist with employee relations cases, documentation, and investigations under the direction of senior staff
- Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and offboarding activities
- Partner with Payroll, Total Rewards, and Talent Acquisition to ensure smooth execution of people processes
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with data privacy, labor law, and reporting requirements
- Contribute to HR communications, trainings, and initiatives that strengthen engagement and culture
- Support workforce reporting and analytics by preparing reports and ensuring data accuracy
- Participate in process improvement projects to enhance efficiency and consistency
- Serve as a resource to employees and managers, providing day-to-day operational HR support
- Job Complexity: Handles tasks of moderate scope within established policies and practices. Requires problem-solving and judgment to address employee issues and support business needs
- Required Supervision: Operates under moderate supervision. Work is reviewed for accuracy, compliance, and alignment with HR practices
- Expertise: Demonstrates solid knowledge of HR policies, processes, and compliance requirements. Applies experience to resolve issues and recommend improvements to programs and workflows
Our take
Car dealerships suffer from an inefficiency problem. The paperwork and administration required to complete a sale requires dealers to manage a disjointed set of various software applications. Tekion is offering an enticing remedy - a cloud-based automotive retail system that integrates the various software applications in a single infrastructure.
Competition has been strong, with rivals CDK Global and Reynolds & Reynolds offering a competitive raft of features, and benefiting from strong prior relationships with dealerships. Tekion, however, has nevertheless secured customers for the software in 28 states - likely in part due to the efficiency of partnering with a single growing service as opposed to a disparate spread.
This momentum shows no signs of slowing either, as Tekion has attracted attention from major players like CMC, Chrysler, and Chevrolet. By streamlining dealership operations into a single platform, the company is proving that even in a crowded market, innovation and simplicity can win over both dealers and industry partners.
