Who you are
- 3+ years of experience in product management, ideally in marketplace platforms, e-commerce, or consumer-facing technology
- Proven track record in designing and launching successful products with outstanding user experience
- Expert-level skills in analytics tools and methodologies, including A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, and data interpretation
- Exceptional taste in design and user experience, able to thoughtfully critique and improve design proposals
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a passion for finding innovative solutions to complex challenges
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable working asynchronously and collaboratively within a remote-first environment
- Proactive, self-driven, and passionate about elevating the user experience
Desirable
- Background or strong interest in travel-tech, hospitality, or similar industries
- Background in software engineering or demonstrated ability to deeply understand technical systems, architecture, and technical tradeoffs
- Previous experience in early-stage startups or high-growth environments
What the job involves
- As a Product Manager for the Marketplace at Wander, you'll lead the development and optimization of our marketplace, shaping how users interact with our platform and discover extraordinary travel experiences
- You'll blend your exceptional design sensibility, deep analytical expertise, and product acumen to drive growth, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency
- Own the roadmap and execution for Wander’s marketplace, aligning closely with design, engineering, and business teams
- Drive product decisions using qualitative insights, rigorous data analysis, and A/B testing
- Collaborate with designers to create beautiful, intuitive user experiences
- Define success metrics, measure results, and rapidly iterate to enhance marketplace performance
- Communicate effectively across teams, ensuring clarity and alignment around product strategy and execution
- Stay attuned to user needs, market trends, and competitor dynamics to inform strategic decisions
Our take
While AirBnB disrupted the hotel and hospitality industries, the novelty has worn off. Surprise fees, sub-par cleaning, uncomfortable beds and unreliable photos are just some of the factors which have taken the shine off the sharing economy model. Built as a response to these issues, Wander aims to return the luxury to the vacation and short stay sector.
Wander provides a tech-first approach to letting short stays that might be familiar to anyone using AirBnB or another competitor, but the comparisons stop there. Wander directly owns and controls the properties on its portfolio, allowing it to ensure a high standard of quality and excellent customer service for its guests. Having booked over 2,000 nights of accomodation and with a 95% satisfaction rating over 2022, it seems to have found a strong market niche to grow into.
After raising an impressive amount of capital in 2022, Wander has secured a significant credit facility from Credit Suisse. It will use this to increase its property portfolio across the United States with an aim to put a property within 3 hours drive of 80% of the population. It is also rolling out a facility to allow guests to purchase part ownership of the homes they stay in, allowing them to diversify their own financial portfolios. Wander is in a strong position to capture a large segment of the luxury market.
