- Strong interpersonal skills - able to communicate with all levels of management
- Previous experience managing a team and driving cross functional initiatives
- Previous involvement in the music business, preferably at a distribution company with prior marketing/product management experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred
What the job involves
- Roc Nation is seeking a Head of Marketing, who will report to the President of Distribution and coordinate all label departments' (digital marketing, publicity, video production, street marketing, radio promotion etc.) efforts leading up to, and throughout, album releases to ensure proper execution of overall marketing plan objectives
- This position is based in our New York City headquarters and will play a critical role in the future growth and success of our company
- The Head of Marketing will be a strategic and operational self-starter who can develop and implement a vision and lead, develop and mentor a team of marketing professionals
- Act as primary liaison between artist and label, maintaining awareness of communication any artist issues, plans, sensitivities, etc. to the team while also diplomatically representing the label's interests to the artist
- Coordinate all distribution departments' (digital marketing, publicity, video production, street marketing, radio promotion etc.) efforts leading up to, and throughout, album releases to ensure proper execution of overall marketing plan
- Lead marketing for distribution repertoire
- Develop and execute global marketing strategy by managing all aspects of international campaign
- Deliver the overall artistic vision, providing the direction and motivation for a team of international product managers
- Represent Global vision and needs to senior management, artists, managers and other key stakeholders
- Guide artists and management through marketing plans and promotional schedules
- Work in conjunction with the local team to establish best in class marketing and promotional plans ensuring maximum awareness while remaining on budget
- Work with label to plan, develop, and execute comprehensive digital marketing campaigns
- Spearhead international online strategy including website, social media, youtube, etc. Expand and develop artists' global following across all platforms
- Establish revenue targets and steps to achieving them
- Manage all marketing and sales elements with the Distribution team and local offices, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery
- Oversee the management of artists promotional tours - flights, hotel, visa's, and daily schedule on budget and within the company travel policy
- Responsible for managing marketing budgets and spend
- Provide regular updates to artist management and distribution teams on the artists development including sales, chart positions, radio play, online stats. etc. while informing the territories of the artist's success
- Oversee physical and digital production process ensuring all deadlines and release dates are met
- Work with affiliates to develop product initiatives for special packages, singles, eps, bundles etc
- Communicate status of, and issues relating to, album releases to executives and all departments label wide
- Consistently analyze results of marketing efforts as well as any other appropriate contextual market conditions; identify key opportunities and communicated these to the team
- Effectively manage M&P budgets for assigned projects
- Help direct strategies, as well as communicate information and create appropriate tools for assigned projects
- Coordinate artist appearances (publicity, radio, in stores) with internal departments as well as artists and any outside vendors (travel, equipment, etc.) ensuring that both the artists' and the label's needs are met in a satisfactory manner
- Oversee the creation and timely delivery of all production elements and tools required for album releases
- Hire and manage independent marketing companies to facilitate distribution’s marketing/promotional efforts
- Secure strategic marketing placements and opportunities with outside corporate and entertainment partners
- Understand the demographics that comprise artists' fan bases and, based on the assets delivered by artists, develop product suites to increase revenue streams
- Manage a high volume of internal/external meetings and email correspondence
- Seek to develop bonus content/material with artists and management to use for sales and promotional uses
- Develop/maintain artist's schedules and calendars to build a successful marketing campaign

Our take
Live Nation is the world's leading live entertainment company, sitting at the top of the market in live events and ticketing. Formed in 2009, it is a major international company, with key business segments made up of concerts, ticketing, and sponsorship and advertising.
Despite its dominant position in the market, the company saw an 84% drop in revenue during 2020 and the closure of live events. Since then, however, demand has been stronger than ever for their ticket sales. This is a reflection that live events remain a clear priority for consumers and has been further reflected in Live Nation's acquisitions of companies - like Goodlive - that complement and bolster Live Nation's portfolio.
In addition to live events, a key area to watch for Live Nation will be the rise of online concert streaming, like that undertaken by competitors such as Driift. Major festivals such as Glastonbury have trialled online concerts with mixed reviews. If it proves successful, this could be a major new section of the entertainment market and a big potential part of Live Nation's future ventures.
