Role

Who you are

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, preferably in fintech, enterprise financial software, or accounting systems
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial reconciliation processes
  • Experience working with high-scale financial data systems and collaborating with Finance, Treasury, or Risk teams
  • Technical fluency – comfortable working with Engineering to build APIs, optimize batch processing, and scale financial infrastructure
  • Data-driven decision-making skills – ability to analyze complex financial data and translate insights into product improvements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – able to articulate complex financial and technical concepts clearly

Desirable

  • Experience with ledger systems, financial observability tools, and data governance frameworks
  • Understanding of OLTP/OLAP architectures, batch processing, and real-time reconciliation workflows
  • Prior experience in building internal financial tooling or working with regulatory financial data
  • CPA or CFA certification or experience in financial reporting, though not required

What the job involves

  • We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join the Accounting group at Adyen. This group is responsible for building and maintaining the accounting software that powers Adyen’s payments and banking operations. The team ensures the accurate tracking of money movement, maintains reconciliation integrity, and provides the financial foundation for Adyen’s global transactions
  • In this role, you will lead the development of scalable, resilient, and high-performance accounting systems that support billions in transaction volume. You will work closely with Engineering, Finance, Treasury, and Risk teams to improve journal processing, reconciliation workflows, and financial observability
  • This is a high-impact role with long-term strategic implications, as the Accounting group is undergoing a structural evolution to better serve Adyen’s growing financial operations. The ideal candidate is data-driven, execution-focused, and comfortable leading complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Own and drive the evolution of Adyen’s accounting software, ensuring it meets the needs of payments, banking, and financial reconciliation
  • Define and prioritize initiatives that improve journal processing, batch optimization, and ledger scalability
  • Partner with Finance, Treasury, and Risk teams to ensure accurate financial data management and compliance
  • Lead efforts to improve real-time fund monitoring, anomaly detection, and reconciliation accuracy
  • Work with engineers to build robust APIs for journal booking, reporting, and reconciliation workflows to eliminate direct database dependencies
  • Drive a data governance strategy, ensuring high data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across accounting workstreams
  • Influence the long-term scalability and infrastructure strategy to handle increasing transaction volumes efficiently

Application process

  • Ensuring a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience is critical for us. We aim to get back to you regarding your application within 5 business days
  • Our interview process tends to take about 4 weeks to complete, but may fluctuate depending on the role

Our take

Adyen has been one of the most successful businesses in Europe over the last decade. When it went public in 2018 at a valuation of €7bn, it raised over €1bn and its share price popped on the first day, resulting in a valuation of €14bn. Its valuation has continued to climb by the billions.

Adyen competes with large players like PayPal, as well as outsized startups like Stripe, to power payments and provide other infrastructure to conduct digital transactions. Disrupters in the field have been buoyed by a strong rise in eCommerce activity, where some or all of a transaction by a customer is made either online or by mobile.

Adyen has been one of the companies riding the wave by helping to reduce the friction between a company choosing to take payments online, and actually being able to do it. That can take multiple steps and agreements across numerous countries — Adyen’s pitch is that it essentially handles all of it in the backend as a service for its users. Notable partners have included Autocanteen, a touchless self-checkout solution for the hospitality industry, and BILL, a small business-focused fintech platform.
