Who you are
- We’re looking for people who are passionate about the mission Octopus is on and want to grow their career with us
- We would love for you to have a proven track record of exceptional customer experience with excellent listening skills
- Confidence when dealing with customers over the phone in a B2C capacity, sales experience smashing KPIs and a hunger to develop are a must
- A love of the buzz you get when exceeding targets and being rewarded with regular incentives and great commission structures
- A solution focused approach and positive outlook, especially when overcoming objections
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own time and workload effectively

What the job involves
- Our smart energy and low carbon heating solutions mean our customers can enjoy clean, green and cosy homes all year round. When you join us, you’ll be placed within one of our teams selling either Solar or Air Source Heat Pumps
- Our leads come from engaged customers who expect our renowned 5* service, so you can be sure our customers are just as passionate about green energy as we are and ready to take the next step into the Green Mission with us
- Develop and establish your sales pipeline with customers - from lead through to delivery and accomplish sales & orders in line with our KPIs
- Explain the benefits of Low Carbon Technologies, Solar and Air Source Heat Pump systems and Octopus Energy as a provider - don’t worry if the tech is new to you, our amazing Learning & Development Team will take you through it all in our 4 week induction so you are ready and rearing to go
- Provide exceptional customer service through the sales process and record customer feedback in our Customer Relationship Management system (CRM)
- Become an expert in finding customers their perfect solution to future proof their homes and drive energy independence
- Be a real advocate for our technology and show customers why it’s great for their needs in a jargon free environment

Our take
According to Octopus, the energy industry in the UK is ruled by a handful of complacent companies peddling fossil fuels, pricing trickery, and poor customer service. Aiming to disrupt the status quo with sustainable energy, Octopus entered the market in 2016 and now supplies energy to millions of homes in a number of countries. Octopus has made a name for itself in energy circles largely because of its “Kraken” technology platform, which it claims is able to reroute energy from renewable sources around a network far more efficiently than competitors.
Octopus further differentiates itself through its aspiration to make everything as easy as possible for consumers, from the simplicity of their bills and the fact that customers are not locked into a contract, so they can leave at any time, to offering customer service over email and social media at times that suit customers. It aims to make the eco‐friendly choice the easy choice, so all of its tariffs use 100% green electricity, while being cheaper than competitors' non-green tariffs.
Its continually creating innovative new products too. For example, Octopus Tracker, where prices change daily to guarantee you get the market rate; Agile, where the price changes every half hour to enable you to benefit from cheap electricity when the sun shines, the wind blows, and the networks are under-utilised. One of the current challenges the company faces is that its products are more complex than its competitors, given that it uses 1000x more data than traditional energy companies. Because of this, it's exploring ways to explain to customers exactly how their products work.
