Role
Who you are
- We're looking for someone who's got the fundamentals down and is ready to dive into building great software with our team.
- Programming experience - Hands-on experience with C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, or a similar programming language
- Software principles knowledge - Understanding of core development principles like SOLID, TDD, YAGNI, and KISS (bonus points if you actually use them!)
- Development lifecycle awareness - Basic knowledge of application lifecycle management including CI/CD, unit testing, and monitoring practices
- Team collaboration skills - Ability to work well in an Agile/Scrum environment with design reviews, code reviews, and planning sessions
- Problem-solving mindset - Ready to tackle complex challenges and contribute to innovative solutions in the food-tech space
Desirable
- While not necessary for the role, the following are a nice to have:
- API and service development - Experience building online services and RESTful APIs
- AI integration experience - Experience working with AI tools and Model Context Protocol (MCP) systems
- .NET or Node.js expertise - Hands-on experience with .NET (C#) or Node.js (TypeScript/JavaScript)
- Cloud platform knowledge - Working experience with AWS or Azure cloud technologies
- Infrastructure as code - Familiarity with Terraform or Pulumi for automated infrastructure management
- Database proficiency - Experience with both SQL and NoSQL database development and design
- Authentication and security - Knowledge of secure authorisation protocols like OAuth and JWT implementation
What the job involves
- You'll be jumping into an exciting role where no two days are the same! As part of our collaborative Agile team, you'll be working on cutting-edge technology that directly impacts how the food industry operates across the UK
- Modern tech stack development - Building scalable services using .NET 8.0 (C#), TypeScript, and AWS tools like ECS, DynamoDB, Lambda, Elasticsearch, SQS, and SNS
- Feature development - Writing clean, reusable code to implement new features and maintain our live web and mobile applications
- AI integration projects - Working with the latest AI models (OpenAI, Anthropic) to create useful internal tools and automate manual processes like supplier invoice processing
- Agile collaboration - Active participation in design reviews, code reviews, sprint planning, and refinement sessions
- Team contribution - Being part of feature planning discussions and helping shape how the team works and grows
- Real-world impact - Building solutions that solve complex problems for businesses across the foodservice industry, from sourcing to delivery
- You'll be working in our King's Cross office with a supportive team that values everyone's input and encourages innovation at every level!
