Who you are
- Experience: 12+ years of product management experience, including significant time in high-growth technology environments
- Undergraduate Degree: Required in a technical or analytical discipline, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Systems/Industrial Engineering
- Advanced Degree: MBA preferred
- Technical Adeptness: Comprehensive understanding of overall company and competitive environments, specifically in Consumer AI, Platforms, or International expansion
- Proven Leadership: Exceptional track record of managing large-scale consumer platforms (millions of users) while fostering a culture of technical excellence
- Collaborative Influence: Ability to reconcile multiple stakeholder views to drive business results in a highly regulated environment
What the job involves
- SoFi is on a mission to help our members get their money right. We are seeking a Senior Director of Product Management to lead our Member organization. This leader will be a catalyst for our consumer product suite, overseeing a portfolio of nascent and scaling initiatives that define how members interact with SoFi globally. You will be responsible for turning ambiguous spaces into exceptional, world-class products at scale
- Develop Strategy: Provide vision and direction for multiple strategic focus areas (AI, Loyalty, International) that impact the overall performance of the Department
- Lead through Leaders: Manage through other senior managers and directors to attract, develop, and export talent via deliberate coaching and succession planning
- Cross-Functional Integration: Lead complex negotiations and strategic conversations with senior leadership and external stakeholders to forge alignment on high-impact decisions
- Operational Excellence: Make final decisions on implementation and ensure operational effectiveness across all member feature workstreams
Our take
SoFi started by offering ways for students to secure better financial terms on their loans, and now offers a huge range of personal finance products, including bank accounts, loans, mortgages, investment advice, and investment opportunities. Many customers find they have to go to multiple financial service providers to meet all their finance needs, but SoFi overcomes this issue by putting it all in one place.
Its goal, to cover all the financial bases, sets it apart from many of the traditional banks and even some of their digital competitors, such as Avant, which has chosen to focus on providing credit alternatives. Although it is operating in a competitive market with a lot of big players such as Monzo, Revolut, and Starling, the company has managed to raise huge amounts of funding to support its rapid expansion.
SoFi has focussed on global expansion, moving outside the US, and has made a series of acquisitions to support this - including a Hong Kong-based investment app called 8 Securities. After going public on the New York Stock Exchange via a SPAC merger in June 2021, the company has continued to evolve and release more mission-oriented services into its roster, and strengthened its lending capabilities through a $350 million post-IPO loan. To date, the company has sold over $15 billion in personal loan collateral and continues to strengthen its offering.
