Role
Who you are
- Proven sales administration or customer operations experience (e.g. in funeral plans, insurance, financial services, or healthcare)
- Impeccable attention to detail - you notice the small things others miss
- Comfortable working in a fast-growing start-up where things evolve quickly and collaboration is key
- Empathy and emotional maturity when supporting families during sensitive times
- Comfortable reconciling forms, spreadsheets, and system data to ensure accuracy
- Confident working with CRM systems, payment platforms
- Excellent written and spoken communication - clear, warm, and professional
- Naturally organised and methodical - you keep things moving without dropping the ball
- Understanding of GDPR, compliance, and data protection principles
Desirable
- Experience in an FCA-regulated or adjacent environment
- Understanding of financial services processes or bereavement admin
- Familiarity with payment administration (failed payments, arrears, reinstatements)
- Previous liaison with external suppliers such as printers or fulfilment partners
- Basic knowledge of compliance and quality assurance checks
- A track record of spotting inefficiencies and suggesting process improvements
- Qualifications in admin, customer service, or compliance
What the job involves
- Coordinate customer welcome packs: prepare accurate files and liaise with our print and fulfilment partners.
- Maintain customer records: process changes to contact details, executors, or nominated representatives
- Support the Finance Team: manage updates to payment methods, cancellations, arrears, and reinstatements
- Handle bereavement notifications and coordinate with our Aura Angels for plan activations
- Monitor data accuracy and produce simple weekly reports on service quality and turnaround times
- Collaborate across teams — Sales, Angels, Compliance, Finance, and external partners — to fix issues fast and keep our service running seamlessly
- Contribute ideas to improve processes and ensure Aura continues to deliver exceptional service with care
Our take
In the past, the majority of people have not prepared for death. However, in recent years, an increasing number of people are talking and planning for it as one of life’s key events. Funerals shifting towards meaningful celebration of life parties is a prime example of this.
Aura is an online platform where people facing end of life can leave an online legacy for their loved ones. It was founded in 2017 by Paul Jameson after he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, but wanted to embrace life, plan ahead and leave his family in the best position possible.
Since then, it has helped thousands of people tackle their hardships and is now run by Jameson’s family. The company has grown to offer celebration of life funeral planning, end-of-life support and the Aura Circle (a digital community of 30k people). With an important mission, Aura has great potential to build a significant business that impacts lots of people, and has attracted several rounds of angel investment to help it on its way.
