Company mission
To turn fine jewelry into an everyday occasion while working towards making a positive impact in our communities, the industry, and the world.
Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of frontend development experience with strong TypeScript/JavaScript expertise
- Deep React experience, including React Router v7 or equivalent modern routing frameworks
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale e-commerce applications
- Strong understanding of Shopify's ecosystem, particularly the Hydrogen framework
- Experience with headless commerce architectures
- Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants in a production codebase, and a clear point of view on where they help and where they create risk
- Comfort writing effective prompts and context for AI tools, and reviewing AI-generated code with the same rigour you'd apply to a colleague's PR
- Proficiency writing unit and integration tests
- Experience with GraphQL and REST APIs
- Experience with performance optimization and web vitals
- Strong UX/UI sensibilities and the ability to collaborate closely with design
- We're building an AI-fluent organization. We welcome candidates at all stages of their AI journey — what matters is curiosity, a willingness to learn, and an openness to working alongside AI tools as part of how we do our best work
Desirable
- React Native or mobile experience. This role sits on web, but engineers who can move across both are a real advantage to us
- Exposure to agentic tooling or MCP-based integrations
- Experience shipping an AI-powered product feature end to end
- Familiarity with observability tooling (Honeycomb, Sentry, or similar)
- Experience with modern frontend tooling at scale (Git, NPM/Yarn, SCSS, ES6)
What the job involves
- As a Senior Frontend Developer, you will play a critical role in enhancing Mejuri's digital experience, ensuring our website and customer-facing applications reflect our commitment to excellence. You'll work on high-impact projects, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and help shape the future of our digital presence, including how we use AI to build faster and better
- Build and maintain performant, scalable web applications on Shopify and Hydrogen, with a focus on performance, accessibility, and SEO
- Lead architectural decisions for frontend projects and refactor existing systems, raising code quality as you go
- Use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow, with the judgement to know when to lean on them and when not to
- Build AI-assisted workflows and internal tooling that make the wider team faster, not just yourself
- Contribute to customer-facing AI features (search, personalization, content generation) and help evaluate whether the output is good enough to ship
- Partner with design, product, and backend to turn ideas into seamless customer experiences
- Mentor junior and intermediate developers, and contribute to code reviews, planning, and retrospectives
Our take
Traditional jewelry retailers often target men for gifting - in part to make higher mark-ups acceptable. Mejuri, however, is putting the purchasing decision back with women with its direct-to-customer strategy. Instead of releasing large batches of seasonal pieces, Mejuri introduces only a small quantity of products each week, which allows it to translate trends and consumer feedback sentiments into its designs in a timely manner.
Having accumulated millions of visitors to its website, it is clear that Mejuri has captured a lot of interest. It has released over 1,000 designs since its launch, has an impressively long waitlist, and boasts that a large portion of its monthly transactions come from returning customers.
Despite its online focus, Mejuri has opened a number of brick-and-mortar stores across the US, Canada, and the UK. The company's current focus appears to be on this offline expansion, as it tries to push beyond its biggest markets into the other countries it ships to, as well as investing in branding and the customer experience.
