Who you are

You are familiar with Python, SQL (familiarity with Dune Analytics preferred) and version control systems
The ideal candidate has advanced working SQL knowledge and experience building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, and workload management
Deep understanding of blockchain infrastructure for data extraction from EVM and non-EVM chains is a big plus
Familiarity with programming languages (preferably Python or Go) and version control software (Git) is required for the position
A fundamental understanding of protocol mechanisms is required for this position

What the job involves

As a data engineer, you’ll be working alongside our internal research and product teams to expand and optimize our data and data pipeline architecture
You’ll be responsible for supporting the data needs of our analysts on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent across ongoing research efforts
Your mission is to ensure our analysts can access data in a smooth and seamless way
Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from different blockchains
You’ll be responsible to assist with coding, designing, deploying, and debugging Python/Go tools for data aggregation, processing, and analysis
Further automate internal data analysis processes and level up Messari’s future data science efforts
Collaborate on developing, automating, and supporting pipelines to extract, transform, and load data
Assist on creating educational content to improve the technical skills of the research team

Interest and participation in the crypto space from institutions and individuals alike has snowballed over recent years. What hasn’t kept pace, at least not yet, is the quality and accessibility of research and analysis tools. Messari has stepped in to fill that breach, providing tools and market intelligence for professionals, builders, and communities looking to confidently navigate web3.

In 2022, Messari launched a platform facilitating engagement in various crypto DAOs, just as these collectives are beginning to slide into the mainstream spotlight and gather real momentum and influence. Historically, DAOs have proven logistically or conceptually complex to engage with, so Messari is taking important steps here to democratize access.

Maintaining this pace could prove tough, but the company is investing into the rapid expansion of its engineering and research teams to stay ahead. This, bolstered by impressive investor support and a client list that already includes key players like Coinbase, BlockTower, and Gemini, should see Messari’s critical web3 work continue to make big waves.
