Who you are
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Economics
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in corporate finance and/or structured finance. You have a proven track record in an investment bank, corporate bank, asset management, corporate or top-tier consulting firm
- Technical Prowess: Advanced skills in data analysis, Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, Powerpoint/Google Slides and a proficiency in leveraging AI tools to drive efficiency
- Communication: Fluent in English (both spoken and written) with the ability to act as a strong communicator between internal and external stakeholders
- Mindset: Proactive, accurate, and highly organized with a relentless eye for detail. You are an entrepreneurial "win any battle" type who thrives in a dynamic environment
What the job involves
- As Head of Corporate Finance, you will be the engine room of our capital strategy. Your primary mission is to ensure we always have sufficient funds available to provide liquidity to our global customers.
- You will act as the right hand to the CEO and the CFO, navigating complex equity and debt capital markets to power the next generation of global trade
- Capital Raising & Debt Structuring: Arrange capital-efficient and flexible asset-backed debt facilities from banks, asset managers, private debt funds, alternative lenders, and mezzanine providers
- Facility Management: Manage and optimize existing debt facilities in close cooperation with the Treasury & Legal team
- Equity Transactions: Support the CEO and the CFO in primary and secondary equity raises, managing both internal and external stakeholders
- Transaction Excellence: Lead due diligence requirements and prepare presentations, complex financial models, virtual data rooms and Q&A processes
- Stakeholder Management: Help manage the internal and external stakeholders such as the supervisory board, management board, investors, and financiers
- Strategic Growth: Solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment, helping to conquer the world of global commerce
Our take
SMEs play a vital role in global trade, representing 98% of exporters and contributing 30% to global volumes. However, over half of their trade finance requests are rejected by banks, creating a massive $1.5T funding gap. This leaves SMEs unable to seize new trade opportunities despite growing global trade and consumer demands.
MODIFI aims to bridge this gap - it provides SMEs with simple digital solutions to finance and manage their trades, protect them from counter-party risk, and easily track their shipments. It services over 1,000 buyers and sellers across more than 40 countries. Since being founded in 2018, MODIFI has grown at an astounding rate and is now the only digital trade finance platform for SMEs that spans the three major trading regions of Europe, Asia and North America - a cluster which encompasses approximately 80% of global imports and exports.
Following major funding across multiple rounds, MODIFI's current strategy is focused on addressing increasing demand and helping more SMEs trade internationally on their digital platform. Fundamentally, with the OECD predicting that the trade finance landscape is to undergo "profound changes" in the coming years, MODIFI has a great opportunity to be at the forefront of change for the better.
