Who you are

Professional experience working within software engineering teams
Exceptional interpersonal skills
3+ years of building backend services with common systems languages (Go, Java, Python, C#). Go experience is not a requirement, but candidates must be open to learning and using it
Track record of success in terms of ability to execute projects
Deep understanding of API concepts and designs
Advanced understanding of SQL, experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
Familiarity with modern web infrastructure components (e.g. caching, serverless, API gateways, etc) and how to manage them
Understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms, and experience creating and evaluating technical design documents
Experience with cloud providers such as AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI and managing infrastructure assets using IaC tooling such as Terraform

Experience designing and building public APIs and developer platforms

What the job involves

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining a scalable microservices platform
This role is for the Customer Integrations team and will be responsible for enabling third-party client integrations
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, will partner with Product leaders on building impactful features, collaborate with other tech teams and own projects end-to-end
Build and maintain highly scalable backend services and APIs that power developer-facing platform capabilities
Develop secure, well-documented, versioned APIs with a strong emphasis on developer experience, consistency and usability
Lead projects from planning to delivery independently
Partner with Product leaders on ideation and implementation
Collaborate across multiple tech teams to design and deliver impactful features
Advocate for team needs and get involved with strategic decisions

Our take

Home rental rates across the US are soaring. On average, rent went up by over 10% in a single year between 2021 and 2022, while in some cities that increase is as much as 40%. Renters are now struggling more than ever to qualify for homes and afford security deposits, which also impacts landlords who lack security.

TheGuarantors, which is a licensed insurance agent and broker bridges this gap by acting as a co-signer, then offering to cover and underwrite security deposits if necessary in exchange for a percentage fee of the monthly rent.

There’s been a lot of movement in the rental startups space of late, with venture capital being poured into companies like rent-to-own Divvy and rent now, pay later startup Jetty.

TheGuarantors, however, has seen immense user uptake on its platform and has won the capital backing of Portage Venture, which it intends to use to scale both its product offering and staff headcount. This, plus B Corp certification awarded in 2024, will help TheGuarantors expand its market visibility.
