Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science or a closely related field, plus 3 years of work experience as Product Manager, Product Analyst, and/or Category Specialist
What the job involves
- Use cognitive scientific methods of human sensation and perception, together with cognitive science concepts, to launch the building blocks of Alloy’s platform--including building the client-facing Journey experience on desktop web; building a Design System where other product teams can locate reusable UI/UX components components; building an authentication experience that is easy and secure for Alloy users, and improving the existing experienceswith a higher flexibility that allows wider ranges of usage
- Conduct research and data analyses to identify opportunities and establish a shared strategy and roadmap to realize Alloy’s vision for our client-facing Journeys product, Design System product, and a more flexible product experience
- Use knowledge of Learning, Memory and Attention to build core products, such as Journey and Authentication, where end users need to learn and understand what the product can do for them and how to use the products on a continuous basis
- Use knowledge of behavioral psychology and human sensations with design and engineering partners to define, develop, and launch Alloy’s core product experiences and building blocks in Alloy’s software, such as a Design System
- This duty requires knowledge of Learning, Memory and Attention, together with Language, Culture and Cognition
- Work closely with key internal business stakeholders (i.e. software engineers, analysts, product managers) and share knowledge of users’ cognitive processes and data analysis to help them understand user needs, identify gaps in Alloy’s software product offerings, and form software product requirements
- This duty requires knowledge of Cognitive Design Studio to define and set up dedicated projects and teams, while partnering with engineering and design leaders
- Use quantitative data regularly to combine internal insights from our products and knowledge of ethnographic research (observations and interviews) to understand sources of clients and internal teams’ thinking processes and their attention flows, to identify pain points that users experience with existing core products
- Use knowledge of scientific methods to establish hypotheses, set goals, develop quantifiable metric systems, and quantify the impact of the core products of Alloy

In recent years, there has been an enormous shift towards online banking, a trend that’s unlikely to turn around with surveys showing that more than half of US banking customers don’t intend to return to branches in person. The rise in digital onboarding has aroused concern about both the speed and labour of ID verification, as well as fraud potential. Alloy was built to help connect banks and fintech companies to more sources of KYC, AML and other compliance data.
The company's single API identity verification platform allows financial institutions to secure against the risk of fraud and misjudged risk decisions when onboarding new customers online. Alloy also helps to improve customer conversion through the compliance funnel and speed up previously manual back-office processes.
The company serves the burgeoning fintech market, a lucrative market with a 25% annual growth rate and already has notable clients in the form of Radius Bank and Aspiration. Alloy's main competition in the future will likely come from financial institutions themselves, who will have to decide on buying the company's solution or building their own in-house. Regardless, Alloy's global expansion efforts have created substantial growth opportunity.
