Who you are
- Empathy for the people who worked on the code base before you

- 7+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer in an established codebase
- A growth hacking mentality with curiosity to experiment, measure, and iterate quickly
- Expertise in Typescript & React and proficiency in GraphQL
- Expertise in Golang and proficiency in a dynamically typed language
- Deep understanding of relational databases like Postgres
- A track record of building resilient, observable, and well-tested distributed systems at scale
- Ability to influence architecture and guide technical decisions across teams
- Proficiency with AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot in your workflow
- Bonus points for experience with A/B testing, pricing and subscriptions, or payments
What the job involves
- The Paperless Post Engineering team, a highly collaborative group of developers and technologists, is charged with building and refining a consumer-facing product that millions of people interact with each month
- Our individual feature teams each focus on a unique piece of the user experience and are made up of engineers, product managers, quality assurers, and product designers
- We prioritize creativity and continuing education, and our ongoing commitment to quality code shows in our pragmatic but brave approach to technology
- The Revenue Growth team owns how Paperless Post monetizes, everything from pay-as-you-go to our subscription business. We run experiments constantly throughout the full funnel, test and refine pricing models, and build systems to support payments and retention
- We are a collaborative group of engineers, product managers, designers, and analysts who share a passion for data-driven decision making and measurable impact
- Lead the design and implementation of features and systems that directly drive monetization
- Partner with product and design to define and run experiments, then help translate results into roadmap decisions
- Be hands-on across the full stack building features for our users and improving the scalability, reliability, and observability of pricing and other systems under the Revenue Growth team's ownership areas
- Mentor engineers and set strong technical and testing standards
- Ship A/B tests and be invested in the outcomes to improve conversion and retention through understanding user behavior
- Influence and align on architecture and guide technical decisions across teams
Our take
Sending invitations to events can be tedious and time-consuming, and outsourcing design can be expensive too. Paperless Post solves this problem with its technology-led, design-first approach.
Paperless Post first launched in 2009, and since then it has become a clear market leader in a field cluttered with fairly simple design and printing tools. Part of its success stems from its early adoption of mobile phones as a platform - while initially optimized for desktop use the company worked hard to develop its platform for mobile users. This has allowed Paperless Post to consolidate its growth in spite of market changes over the years.
Paperless Post is well-positioned to see considerable growth. It will need to continue to develop its partnerships and technology in order to fend off new competitors, however. Its unique designs and partnerships with brands such as Caroline Herrera go some way to achieving this, and its understanding of communication trends: switching to text message notifications rather than email as younger people abandon email as a way to communicate - indicate that the company is still ahead of the curve.
