Role
Who you are
- 6+ years of experience as a software developer
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to debug and optimize performance issues across the stack
- Proven experience building performant production-level APIs and web applications using Django, Django RESTful, GraphQL, and React
- Proficient in SQL, especially with PostgreSQL, and CSS, particularly TailwindCSS
- Professional fluency in English
Desirable
- Experience with headless CMS solutions or Wagtail
- Familiarity with SQLAlchemy, Docker, and AWS deployment pipelines
- Experience with Apollo client and GraphQL libraries, design systems like Storybook, end-to-end testing with Playwright, and React component testing
- TypeScript experience in production applications
- Background in healthcare tech or working in startups or other high-growth environments
What the job involves
- As a Senior Fullstack Developer, you will be a crucial part of fulfilling our mission to raise the standard of secondary care and make it accessible to all
- Together with the rest of the team, you will create a new way of providing simpler, smarter, and more personal healthcare for everybody in the UK and beyond by developing and maintaining meaningful features for our different applications to support our patients, medical professionals, and staff along their journeys
- Scale and improve existing backend and frontend features, services, and data sources for our applications, serving patients, healthcare professionals, and Medbelle staff
- Build and maintain performant, scalable internal and customer-facing web applications using our backend and frontend technology stack
- Set up and maintain performance monitoring systems to enable continuous improvement strategies across our full stack platform
- Collaborate with Product and Design teams to define development sprints and deliver beautiful, high-quality UIs aligned with our design system
- Define and implement initiatives to improve development workflows and tooling for both backend and frontend applications
- Deploy and maintain a secure, robust, and scalable platform and infrastructure
- Improve and maintain testing setups, including end-to-end testing, to ensure reliable and predictable changes across the stack
- Document engineering guidelines and best practices for both frontend and backend development
- Mentor other engineers on full stack best practices and technical leadership in your areas of expertise
Our take
Healthcare has long been in need of a digital transformation. Patient records are frequently difficult to access and maintain, facilities still employ outdated administrative equipment, and the patient journey from primary to secondary care can feel disjointed and difficult to navigate. That’s something that digital healthcare company Medbelle is looking to change.
The company has built out what it describes as an end-to-end digital platform for patients embarking on elective procedures. Users can book these procedures through the online platform, where healthcare providers can then take advantage of a suite of patient journey tools that cover billing, consultations, and follow-ups.
The company already covers a broad range of surgeries and treatments, and has forged relationships with other healthcare companies like myGP, The Medical, and Bodyset. With steady penetration into the lucrative UK private healthcare network, Medbelle has been making promising progress and it will be interesting to see how it further progresses.
