- 5+ years of product design experience in complex, interconnected systems, ideally in B2B or enterprise applications
- A portfolio showcasing selected work or case studies that demonstrate your strengths and impact
- Strong research and discovery skills from either a dedicated UX research background or research-driven design practice
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and ability to advocate for users
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling designs
- Excellent verbal and visual communication skills to articulate design rationale and influence stakeholders
- Familiarity with AI-driven design tools and workflows is a plus, as we anticipate AI handling high-fidelity UI execution in the near future
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who is a strategic thinker, problem solver, and researcher
- You’ll contribute to the user experience across 1-2 teams, driving discovery, ideation, and concept testing to create impactful, scalable design solutions. If you thrive on ambiguity, ask the right questions, and connect the dots between user needs, business goals, and technical constraints, we want to talk to you
- This role will primarily focus on improving data discovery for data analysts at enterprise organizations
- You will design innovations in catalog search, navigation, and discovery capabilities while identifying opportunities to integrate AI into the experience
- Conduct competitive and primary research to become an expert in customer and user needs around data discovery
- Develop and evaluate concepts via iterative prototyping, concept testing, and hypothesis-driven design
- Partner with PMs and engineers to synthesize insights and identify opportunities for innovation
- Execute hands-on design work, from wireframes to polished UI, ensuring a cohesive and thoughtful experience
- Communicate and justify design decisions effectively to business and technical stakeholders
- Contribute to and help evolve our design system to ensure scalable and consistent experiences
- Challenge assumptions, reframe problems, and advocate for users through compelling storytelling and well-reasoned arguments
- Actively participate in design critiques and provide feedback to peers

While companies continue to gather huge volumes of data on customer behavior, efforts in leveraging said data are often hindered by data access and interpretation, which ultimately leads to incomplete datasets.
Alation is a machine learning powered data catalog. It pulls together all a company’s key data from popular sources like Oracle, Spark and Tableau, and presents it on its platform. This means that users can search for multiple strands of data on just one API. Its services include data governance, digital transformation, and data discovery.
With both the data catalog and data analytics market growing rapidly at a 25% annual growth rate, Alation finds itself in a very strong position having shown triple digit growth for four years running. The platform is used for diverse purposes by Pfizer, FinnAir, Pepsico, Salesforce, American Express and BMW.
It’s this range of applicability, from weather-induced flight delay prediction to rare disease identification, that has led to investments resulting in a valuation of $1.7B. Though it's not the only company of its ilk on the market, with the likes of Informatica, Aginity and Alteryx all competing, Alation’s rapid year-on-year growth, solid investment from the likes of Japanese data communications leader NTT DOCOMO and an elite customer base bodes well for the company's future.
