Company mission

We’re on a mission. And it’s money without borders. Instant, convenient, transparent and — eventually — free.

Role

Who you are

  • You have at least 4 years of experience in technical product management or similar
  • You can independently identify and leverage insights to learn about problems in the security domain and understand how to measure the impact of potential opportunities
  • You can navigate a highly ambiguous problem space and structure it into clear outcomes and manageable deliverables
  • You have a proven track record of delivering large scale programs requiring cross-team collaboration affecting a large part of the organisation
  • You understand operational challenges and are able to balance the needs of customers with the needs of your engineering teams
  • You speak the language of engineers and work effectively with them, both as part of your own engineering team and as your customers
  • You communicate clearly and effectively, influence without authority and get buy-in for your plans from the wider organisation
  • You have a good understanding of the developer journey and how to integrate security throughout the whole software development life cycle
  • Previous experience working in cloud security or similar security-related fields is beneficial

What the job involves

  • We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to drive the evolution of our Security Squad
  • You will lead the overall product vision and strategy, overseeing multiple engineering teams and working closely with your Product Lead and the Chief Information Security Officer
  • In this role you will be embedded into a wider team of Platform Product Managers and leverage your product mindset to ensure the Security Squad is always working on the biggest opportunities that bring Wise closer to achieving its mission
  • Your mission is to partner with the Security Squad engineering teams to build world-class products for our internal users
  • Identify and unlock opportunities across the security domain while aligning your plans with the overall platform and Wise strategy
  • Collaborate with many different functions across Wise to gather, understand and translate user needs into impactful security products
  • Work with product engineering teams and enable them to stay on top of their security risks, achieving compliance without slowing down progress towards our mission
  • Deliver large scale security programs, getting adoption for new products and evangelising them across the engineering organisation

Our take

Wise started when the two founders realised they would be better off trading Estonian kroons for British pounds (and vice versa) between themselves rather than going through banks. That was back in 2011, and they've since grown Wise into one of Europe's most successful tech businesses, exchanging billions of currency every month.

Wise rapidly grew by solving a significant problem for customers, who lost too much money to banks when exchanging currency. They've attracted investment from some of the best investors in the world, from Andreesen Horowitz to Index Ventures and even Richard Branson.

The challenge for Wise will be maintaining their edge and brand power in a market that's becoming increasingly crowded with new entrants (like Revolut and Monzo) and incumbents (traditional banks) trying to catch up. To do so, the company is ramping up its digital and marketing strategies, as well as pushing for further development of its existing products.
