Role
Who you are
- A strong background in data science, with a proven track record of building and deploying ML solutions to production
- Experience designing, building and validating time series forecasting models
- Proficiency in Python, and experience with relevant libraries and frameworks
- Excellent communicative skills, with good command of English language
- Self-organized and able to work independently, while collaborating proactively with others in the company
- Familiarity with collaborative software engineering practices (Git, CI/CD, DevOps)
What the job involves
- As a Data Scientist in the product team, you play a pivotal role in designing, building and deploying new product features
- You focus on machine learning model research, and bringing research results to production
- You will be working on a diverse set of challenges, using the modern Python data stack, Google Cloud and machine learning frameworks of your choice
- Some example challenges are probabilistic forecasting of market prices, renewable power generation forecasting, causal modeling of the market impact, and the optimization of trading decisions given constraints and system uncertainty
- Besides conducting research, you are determined to build great software products with real-world impact, using the latest ML engineering best practices in terms of reproducibility, availability, modularity, and automated testing
- Design, build and validate machine learning time series forecasting and trade optimization models
- Collaborate with domain experts and other data scientists to ideate and research new data and feature engineering approaches to improve model performance
- Innovate on probabilistic forecasting and causal modeling approaches
- Design and prototype new optimization products or product features
- Partake in ML engineering work, collaborating with software engineers to bring research results to production
Our take
Dexter provides highly accurate energy forecasts to renewable energy producers. Its algorithm analyses current and historic weather data to determine how much electricity windmills and solar panels will generate on a given day. This enables energy companies to reduce imbalances on the grid by determining energy loads, helping companies to optimise their renewable electricity production and consumption.
As the energy market continues to shift, large-scale providers must be able to anticipate changing weather and market conditions. Since the company’s AI-powered software enables companies to manage increasing imbalance costs, Dexter has considerable growth potential as it expands its services across Europe and into the UK.
