To make money management as simple as possible for their customers.
Role
Who you are
- Three or more years as a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer or technical consultant in a SaaS or API-first business, ideally in payments or fintech
- Strong on REST APIs, webhooks and integration patterns, and confident with Postman, cURL and API specifications
- Has worked with enterprise clients to design and scope technical solutions, and written SoWs
- Has supported RFPs and due diligence with accurate technical input
- Knowledge of payments, card issuing, banking-as-a-service or embedded finance is a strong advantage
- Excellent written and spoken communication; confident running a technical workshop
- Customer-first, with a knack for making complex things simple
- Commercially aware: understands why the deal matters as well as how the solution works
- Straight about what we can and cannot do
- Organised across several live opportunities at once
- Collaborative with Sales, Product, Engineering and Compliance
What the job involves
- Equals sells to programme managers: payment service providers, acquirers and platforms that run accounts, payments, FX or cards for their own customers on our infrastructure, through an API integration or a white-label setup
- As a Solutions Engineer you are the technical lead in the sale. You work with our Platform Sales team and our partnerships teams to understand what a prospect needs, design a solution that works for them and for us, scope it in a Statement of Work, and hand it cleanly to implementation. You will lead technical discovery, run demos and sandbox walkthroughs, answer RFPs and due diligence, and tell sales early when a deal will not work
- Lead technical discovery with prospects: their systems, their customers, their flow of funds, and their integration or white-label requirements
- Design the solution across accounts, payments, FX and card issuing, and document it clearly: architecture, flows, responsibilities and risks
- Write the Statement of Work: deliverables, scope, assumptions and dependencies, so what is signed is what we can deliver
- Qualify opportunities on product fit with the seller, and flag early where a deal needs Product, Compliance or Engineering input
- Run demos, API walkthroughs and sandbox sessions for prospects' technical and product teams
- Provide the technical content for RFPs, RFIs and due diligence questionnaires
- Hand over to Implementation and Technical Account Management with complete documentation
- Capture product gaps and requests from the field and feed them to Product with the commercial context
- Improve the team's demo environments, templates and technical sales material
- Win rate on deals you support
- Time from discovery to solution proposal
- SoW accuracy: delivered without material re-scoping
- Quality of handover to Implementation

Our take
Born in 2005 out of a desire to use technology to give customers a better deal, Equals' mission is to make money simple for everyone. Founded under the name "FairFX", Equals has been helping customers move and manage their money for years. The company consists of three brands, all working together to provide financial solutions for personal and business customers alike.
Having started as a foreign exchange platform, Equals is evolving into a broader money management platform, moving from originally international payments and travel money towards integrated money management solutions for consumers and businesses. The company covers a number of elements: travel, business expenses, personal finance, and payroll.
Equals has built great customer loyalty, strengthening its position in launching new products and helping it become a dominant force in the payments market. Looking to expand its financial services options for customers and secure its future, Equals completed an acquisition by embedded finance platform Railsr in 2025.
