Role
Who you are
- 10+ years of Product Marketing experience working on B2C product marketing
- Experience with product positioning and successfully launching external products
- User & marketing research experience creating studies from scratch
- Ability to lead with initiative and prioritize several work streams at once
- Built work streams and processes from scratch
- Experience with user empathy
Desirable
- Marketing experience at a technology-focused B2B company
- You have analytical skills, being comfortable with spreadsheets and using dashboards)
- Experience managing marketing agencies
- Familiarity with growth marketing and user acquisition
What the job involves
- On the Waymo Marketing team, you will help to connect people with the magic and impact of Waymo's autonomous driving technology
- Our team has the unique opportunity to not only grow Waymo's brand from the ground up, but to also build societal acceptance for autonomous driving technology for the first time in history
- We build thoughtful marketing strategy, positioning, messaging and creative assets to deliver messages that matter to our audience, communicated through anything from video content, to social media interactions, to immersive physical experiences
- We also shape Waymo's go-to-market initiatives, helping to transform Waymo into a thriving business with a growing user base
- You will report to a Product Marketing Manager
- Be involved in core product marketing and strategic programs to shape the way we bring our technology to the world
- Work on product strategy and positioning as we expand our ride-hail service, Waymo One
- Refine your creative ideas and goals into creative briefs to build campaigns that resonate with consumers and convey the magic of Waymo
- Dig into user insights collaborating with our Research Team, creating research studies to guide our creative and growth strategy
- Partner with members of the Marketing and other teams including Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and Data Science to lead product launches
Our take
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company that began as the Google self-driving car project in 2009. After initial development, it secured permits to deploy autonomous ride-hailing services in cities including Phoenix and San Francisco, but has recently hit a major bump in the road with safety concerns that resulted in a recall of over 400 self-driving cars.
With the autonomous driving industry already besieged by setbacks and public distrust, this development does Waymo no favours. That said, as an industry leader there remains the possibility it will see out the storm, but massive attention will need to be given to rebuilding trust with consumers if this is to be the case.
