Role
Who you are
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals
- Experience leading successful Android projects
- Experience shipping beautiful, high-quality apps
- Participate in regular design and code reviews with development team members to confirm use of best practices
- Understand and evaluate new technologies, develop skills in new technologies
- Passion and experienced working with the latest Android tech
- Comfort working in a cross-functional product team
- Experience mentoring engineers and organizing work within a team
- Our apps are written in Kotlin and use a reactive MVVM architecture driven by the Jetpack lifecycle components (including Compose), Realm, and Flows/RxJava
- Your team will also do iOS development in Swift, so having background there would be a bonus, but is not required
- Our backend APIs are built with TypeScript, Node.js, Redis, Kafka, and PostgreSQL and run in AWS
- It's not required that you know these, but being able to work closely with the backend engineers on your team by understanding these technologies is a bonus

- Our mission is to grow the GameChanger community by bringing more fans, family members, and friends into the ecosystem, and connecting them with highly personalized and relevant content that brings them closer to the action
- As an Android Software Engineer, you will use modern tools to develop features in our native Android application and across the stack
- You will build engaging user-facing features by contributing your expertise, writing code, and making architectural decisions on a team of Product Managers, Designers, QA Analysts, and Engineers
- You will report to one of our Product Engineering Managers
- Lead feature development for fan experiences, community engagement, and personalized content throughout the stack, with a focus on our Android app
- Work with peers on important decisions about how our applications are architected and built
- Team up with designers, testers, and product managers to find the best solutions for our customers
- Teach and learn with engineers across the company
- Promote responsible engineering practices and mentor team members
- Drive consensus on your team and solutions to challenging problems
Our take
The competitive nature of sports has always been driven by scorekeeping, and nowadays results are often consumed online. However, for smaller teams it can be difficult to provide this information digitally, as they do not have dedicated web development staff.
GameChanger provides a scorekeeping and statistics platform for sports teams to engage with their fans, that allows viewers to track the progress of a game in real-time similar to with professional sports. The company also embeds a live-streaming service into the platform to facilitate remote viewing, helping to increase audience engagement.
Whilst some sports teams already stream events on platforms such as Twitch and Youtube, most do not have the technical resources to achieve this. GameChanger has recognized this gap in the market, providing a simple yet unified platform for sports scoreboards and streaming, providing a fair opportunity for any team to maximize their community engagement.
