Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Customer Engineer, Sales Engineer, Applied AI Architect, or Applied AI Engineer
- Minimum 5+ years of management experience (ideally 7+) leading hands-on, technical, customer-facing teams, with a track record of hiring and scaling teams rapidly
- Experience building AI-native products and working with AI-native startups, ideally across multiple EMEA markets
- Enjoy building distributed teams across geographies in unstructured environments
- Strong executive presence and ability to build deep relationships across diverse cultural contexts
- Familiarity with the architecture and operation of large language models
- Passion for making powerful technology safe and societally beneficial
- Willingness to travel frequently across EMEA (estimated 30–40% travel)

Desirable
- Second-line management experience across different technical functions (e.g., managing both Applied AI Architecture and Engineering leads)
- Founder or early-stage startup/scaleup experience: you understand the pace, constraints, and mindset of the companies you’ll be serving
- Experience operating across multiple EMEA markets with understanding of regional startup ecosystems and go-to-market dynamics
- Proficiency in one or more additional EMEA languages (e.g., French, German, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Hebrew)
What the job involves
- As the leader of Applied AI for Startups across EMEA, you will lead Applied AI Architects and Applied AI Engineers to build technical mindshare around Anthropic’s products among early-stage adopters across EMEA: from London to Berlin, Paris to Tel Aviv, and beyond
- You’ll work with the fastest-growing AI-focused startups in the region, driving adoption of frontier AI through bespoke LLM solutions
- You’ll build and grow a cross-functional technical team, establish best practices for startup engagements, and represent Anthropic as a technical leader across the region
- In collaboration with Sales, Product, and Engineering, you’ll help startups incorporate AI into their products and platforms
- A core part of this role is building Anthropic’s technical brand across the EMEA startup ecosystem through hands-on engagements, workshops, developer content, and strategic partnerships with accelerators and VCs
- Build, hire, lead, and mentor a team of Applied AI Architects and Applied AI Engineers supporting EMEA Startups
- Partner with EMEA GTM leadership and Sales to build market-specific strategies that drive adoption and technical mindshare among startups
- Engage hands-on with highest-value EMEA startups on advanced LLM integration, deployment, and adoption
- Travel regularly across EMEA for customer workshops, ecosystem events, accelerator demo days, and conferences
- Build technical mindshare among early-adopter startups through developer workshops, technical content, hackathons, and community programmes
- Build relationships with VCs, accelerators, and incubators to position Anthropic as the platform of choice for emerging companies
- Surface product feedback and market intelligence from EMEA startup engagements back to Product and Engineering

Funded by Google and founded by ex-OpenAI employees, Anthropic is an AI company focused on building a reliable, innovative AI system. While the company is relatively new to the market it has already launched a highly anticipated AI chat assistant called Claude which is set to rival OpenAI's ChatGPT.
Similar to other chatbots, Claude is accessible through a chat interface and can provide a number of conversation and text-processing tasks. A key point of differentiation is that Claude is designed to produce less harmful outputs than that of the other chatbots that came before it.
While there is much praise for the chat assistant, there is still room for improvement with feedback reporting that Claude is worse at maths and grammar compared to its rival. However, with industry giants like Google backing this company from an early stage, and a monumental Series F round of $13 billion awarded in 2025, the company is planning to enhance Claude and expand its presence in Europe.
