Our take
PostHog is an open-source product analytics company. Its goal is to increase the number of successful products in the world, which starts with providing engineering teams with tools to help them understand user behaviour better.
The company differentiates itself through its aim to become a one-stop-shop for its clients. There are plenty of product analytics tools out there, but many of the alternatives are SaaS-based. While they are very powerful, they can be frustrating for developers who want full access to the underlying data. PostHog's platform puts the control back in the hands of developers and gives them full visibility over the impact of their work.
The company already counts Y Combinator, SpaceX, Staples, Airbus and Hasura among its clients. It has been rapidly shipping major new features and has plans for many more in the coming months and years. The company is set to grow quickly, having recently capitalized on the news that Google Analytics was deemed illegal in some EU countries with clever marketing tactics, which sent 1,791 unique visitors through to its website and substantially raised brand awareness.
