Role
Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have experience with pragmatically leading customer contract negotiations and balancing competing priorities and demands
- 7+ years of meaningful relevant experience, including in-house experience (SaaS
- Preferred), with a focus on driving to closure a broad range of commercial transactions
- And advising on related privacy and data security issues
- A J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar
- At least some knowledge of global and domestic privacy laws and regulations, including
- GDPR and CCPA
- A desire to improve processes, rather than to shy away from such opportunities, to

What the job involves
- We are looking for a motivated Senior Commercial Counsel to join Salsify’s legal team to continue to play a key role in our outstanding legal, security, and compliance program
- As the Company enters into its next stage of hypergrowth, this person will provide end-to-end legal advice and support on a broad range of company initiatives, including commercial transactions, product development, data privacy, and legal operations
- This person will report directly to our Chief Legal Officer
- This role requires a hands-on approach to cross-functional collaboration with internal teams to engage proactively the appropriate key stakeholders and will support the development, operation, sales, and marketing of our solutions and services
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, such as SaaS agreements, professional services agreements, consulting agreements, data processing addendums, vendor agreements, and partner agreements
- Serve on cross-functional working groups crafting go-to-market strategy, including drafting contractual language for new products, features, and functionality; advising on packaging and pricing, and ensuring order forms are enabled in advance of launch
- Design and implement tools to enhance processes for scalability, such as developing and delivering training sessions and materials to empower various company stakeholders
- Play a key role in advising on and implementing controls, policies, and processes to scale the business
- Partner with InfoSec and engineering teams to implement data protection controls, and to support privacy standard practices for customer, employee, partner, and vendor personal information
Our take
Salsify provides eCommerce retailers with a single platform to keep tabs on inventory, and unify and enrich product content descriptions used at all points of sales. The company can also manage customers’ journeys through data analysis which can allow for more personalized, engaging messaging.
As the retail world shifts more towards eCommerce, brands have to give more consideration to the customer’s digital experience from first impression to purchase. This proves challenging as each route to sale differs from the next, which in turn creates the need for a stack like Salsify.
It’s not the only company of its kind, with the likes of Salesforce and Contently having products with similar functions, but Salsify is performing strongly and has an impressive set of customers on its books including Coca-Cola and Mars. Having raised substantial funding, the company reached unicorn status in 2022, with investment cited to enable Salsify to deliver on its vision to serve as the global system of record and work for digital commerce experiences.
