Role
Who you are
- Proven experience in sales and business development within the healthcare or behavioral health field
- Proven track record of success by consistently exceeding sales quota, with a focus on new business acquisition
- Excellent ability to communicate with, and influence, enterprise clients and prospects as well as internal stakeholders
- Strong presentation skills, including demonstrated success presenting and communicating with other executives
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset and energy. Ability to quickly move from 0-1 while navigating complex health plans and health systems
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or anytime in the future
- 8+ years proven track record of successful consultative & solution oriented selling to health plan executives (extra credit for health system selling)
- BS/BA degree or comparable professional experience
- Experience starting or scaling a successful startup, ideally in the healthcare space
- Experience leading and closing partnership discussions with key decision makers and executives
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to frequently communicate with others through virtual meeting applications such as Zoom and Google Meet
- Must be able to travel to meet with prospective clients and company leadership as needed
- Must be able to observe and communicate information on company provided laptop
- Move up to 10 pounds on occasion
What the job involves
- The VP of Business Development is responsible for contacting, developing, and managing new payer and health system partnerships
- This role is a highly visible, entrepreneurial role and a key lead in driving the sales strategy for new accounts
- The position will focus on directing outreach initiatives to potential targeted executives or referrals made by the Chief Partnership Officer (CPO) and other Octave executives to pitch, evaluate opportunities and negotiate contract terms
- Work closely with the CPO to develop and execute a full strategic review of potential channel partners and a comprehensive go-to market partnership acquisition strategy
- Create, develop and execute on strategic business plans for outreach and follow up campaigns to targeted health plans and health systems
- Develop, schedule and deliver, high-level, and impactful presentations for sales meetings in coordination with the CPO
- Manage the sales process, follow up meetings and partners closely with internal stakeholders and decision makers throughout the contracting process
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, potential collaboration partners, and other high value business relationships in line with the company’s vision, strategy, and long-term plans
- Leverage your existing strong relationships and identify opportunities to grow your network to increase the pipeline of sales opportunities
- Deliver upon core business development growth metrics, opportunity identification, and partnership pipeline growth
- Oversee the Salesforce data integrity, monitor, and report on performance metrics (tracking progress on achieving number of meetings with targeted executives and new partnerships successfully closed) in coordination with the CPO
- Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations
