Who you are
- We are looking for exceptional backend engineers who can work across a variety of technologies, with deep expertise in Kubernetes, distributed systems, cloud services, and platform reliability
- This role is ideal for individuals who are capable of working independently, taking initiative, and driving projects forward with a high level of autonomy
- 5+ years of industry experience building as a backend engineer
- Golang, Kubernetes, Terraform (or comparable IaC tool), cloud-native architecture and solid knowledge of at least one major cloud service provider
- Customer Focus: Have a deep commitment to understanding and addressing customer needs. Use customer feedback and insights to inform and improve product development
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for design details and a commitment to delivering polished and high-quality user interfaces
- Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and a track record of working effectively across teams

What the job involves
- The ClickPipes Platform plays a critical role in driving the growth of our company and ensuring the success of our clients by seamlessly onboarding and integrating data from diverse data sources into ClickHouse
- Working at a petabyte scale and in high-velocity environments, this role offers an exceptional opportunity to solve challenging technical problems, operate with significant autonomy, and make a measurable impact
- As a member of this team, you'll collaborate cross-functionally to build and maintain the robust infrastructure powering ClickPipes
- Enhance and scale our high-performance data onboarding platform to handle increasing volumes of data in real-time
- Own and evolve our infrastructure across multiple cloud providers (AWS, with expansion to GCP and Azure)
- Drive improvements to our deployment pipelines, infrastructure automation, and operational processes
- Drive technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions that impact our platform's scalability and resilience
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability and respond to production incidents
- Continuously improve our systems based on operational metrics, customer feedback, and evolving business requirements
Our take
Database management systems have long been important to the operations of businesses. However, these systems can be painfully slow. ClickHouse solves this problem with its ultra-fast database management system, that powers real-time analytics and apps.
ClickHouse's founding team hail from companies including Yahoo!, Netflix, Salesforce and Google. This has not only lent the company an impressive amount of credibility, but has also allowed it to identify the needs and challenges of enterprises when it comes to their databases. Its system works between 100 and 1,000 times faster than traditional options, and has led to the company being trusted by the likes of eBay, Uber and Spotify.
Valued at $1 billion back in 2021, it is clear that ClickHouse holds a strong position in the market, though it does face competition from rivals such as StarTree and Imply. It has seen substantial funding, the most recent of which is cited to help expand its product and engineering teams. In 2022, the company also launched ClickHouse Cloud - a fully managed, SOC 2 Type 2-compliant cloud-hosted version of its database that is now available in the AWS Marketplace.
