Role
Who you are
- Experience as a DevOps / SRE / CI/CD engineer, you have a good understanding of processes, best practices, tooling in the field
- Experience working with AWS (Azure and Google Cloud a plus)
- Experience working with CDK or Terraform
- Experience in working with distributed systems
- Experience coding in Typescript or some other programming language
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Being a proactive learner and open mindedness
Desirable
- Experience operating one of the core data systems that we use: RDS/Postgres, Elastic Cloud, MSK/Kafka
- Experience in information security and DevSecOps
- Experience in cost analysis and optimization
- Experience in implementing observability and reliability guidelines
- Experience in leading on incident resolution and debugging complex problems
What the job involves
- You will be part of the Platform team and work with the engineers there to improve the productivity of the engineering team and the quality and reliability of our software and services
- The Platform team owns all our infrastructure and enables our product teams to go fast without breaking things

- Design, build, and maintain the core infrastructure used by all of Choco’s engineering teams
- Partner with engineering teams to ensure their work meets production standards
- Lead on designing new pieces of infrastructure and implementing them together with the product teams
- Debug production issues across the stack
- Improve common operational challenges with tooling
- Plan for the growth of Choco's infrastructure
- Given the scale of Choco’s mission and the speed at which we are shipping and growing, you will be making a significant impact on our user base very quickly
- You will get the opportunity and space to learn many new things and you will be able to lead large and significant projects that impact our entire engineering organization and through them the entire company

Our take
The restaurant industry has seen vast technological innovations throughout the last decade, yet the state of supply chain ordering and administration does not reflect this. Restaurants are still using archaic paperwork to order from suppliers, and this has the tendency to become clunky, inaccurate, and result in food waste. Choco exists to improve this situation by connecting restaurants and suppliers through its food ecosystem management software.
Choco isn't the only company to notice the potential for disruption in this space, but it has taken a unique approach by providing bespoke inventory applications and analytical tools to both restaurants and suppliers. Because of this, it has a large and rapidly growing userbase and its supply chain now links more than 31,000 businesses globally, with more than £1.2 billion in goods traded on its platform.
It's also raised large amounts of capital in several funding rounds and achieved unicorn status with a valuation exceeding $1 billion. It now has eyes on expansion, currently working with clients across the U.S. and Europe but also planning to begin operations in South America, the Middle East, and Asia in the near future.
