What the job involves

  • The Release Engineering team owns software release at Benchling. We serve Benchling software engineers as our customers. Indirectly, we also serve Benchling's end users for both our Standard and Validated Cloud product offerings
  • As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll shape our platform for agility, performance, and security
  • Collaborate with engineers across the Infrastructure organization to enable our software engineers to get their code into production quickly, safely, and without manual effort
  • Propose and lead efforts to deliver our next generation of infrastructure, across the organization
  • Your work will be pivotal as we grow alongside our global user base, providing highly reliable and trusted infrastructure
  • Own projects end-to-end, from proposal and alignment, to planning and initial design, to large-scale rollout
  • Support engineers across Benchling to understand real time developer experience with our CI/CD pipelines, and recommend future investments
  • Investigate issues, risks, tradeoffs, and improvement opportunities
  • Assess opportunities given constraints and business goals
  • Contribute to the next set of exciting projects on our roadmap:
  • Build automation and horizontal processes to bring us closer to truly continuous delivery and progressive software delivery
  • Invest in technologies to optimize how we build, test, and deploy software, including progressive deployments like canarying
  • Further the experience of engineers working in microservices
  • Bring our continuous and validated (quarterly) release infrastructures closer together, by having a higher-level view into Benchling infrastructure and production systems
  • Habitual responsibility for and innate interest in developer experience quality and performance
  • Further engineering culture, practices, and processes throughout the organization and company
  • Advocate for the success of the team and for your own career, growth, and interests
