Who you are
- Experience: While years of practice is not a perfect way to gauge the experience, we believe that 8 to 10 years in data modeling, with expertise in data architecture, and normalized and denormalized data modeling, is a reasonable pre-requisite for this role
- Skills: Complete mastery of SQL is required, deep understanding of data conception, normalization, and the ability to create future-proof data models. The ecosystem includes DBT, Airflow, Apache Flink and Snowflake and are “nice-to-have”
- Mentoring : You care about growing and mentoring people. The Staff Engineer role requires technical leadership, is inspirational for teammates, and radiates beyond the team
- Mindset: Nothing is too challenging, you think mid/long-term and bring innovative solutions. Recognised figure in the industry and/or keen to become one is aligned with our ambitious data strategy
- Flexibility: Open to remote work in any market
What the job involves
- We are seeking two new Analytics Engineers to join our team of currently 3
- This is a unique opportunity to enhance both the quantity and quality of our data modeling capabilities
- Our focus is on understanding data from its conception rather than just its usage, and we are looking for professionals who can normalized (3NF, 6NF) data models, understand data domains, and design future-proof data representations
- You'll be reporting to Emmanuel Akpan, a transformational leader who creates an environment where team members are empowered to reach their full potential. Through his open-door policy and regular one-on-one meetings, Emmanuel provides personalized guidance while fostering a collaborative atmosphere where innovative ideas are always welcomed
- His approachable nature combined with his commitment to career development makes him an inspiring manager who truly invests in his team's success
- Design and deliver data models in 6th Normal Form, 3rd Normal Form, and star schema
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including Product Managers, Data Producers, Data Scientists (DS), Data Analysts (DA), and other teams within Qonto, to understand business requirements and ensure data models meet these needs and are future-proof
- Mentor and elevate the team’s data modeling capabilities
- Contribute to data governance and ensure adherence to best practices in data architecture
- Learn in depth about Data Modelling and Streaming technology
- Be part of a dynamic and innovative team that is shaping the future of financial technology
- Work in a collaborative environment with opportunities for professional growth and development
- Lead cross-functional data projects that have a major impact on the business and its stakeholders

Moving forward, Qonto appears to be working on building up its presence in newer territories.
