What the job involves
- Once here, you will be working on:
- 👨👧👦 Our People: Supporting individual growth through coaching & sponsorship
- Actively developing the people in your team through mentoring and coaching, aligning the growth of engineers with the success of the team
- Setting a high bar for individual performance and laying out meaningful development goals and milestones for your reports. Leading conversations around what engineers need to demonstrate in order to progress
- Hiring and retaining top talent and setting up new joiners for success. Representing your team concisely in calibration conversations
- 💻 Technical Product
- Improving and maturing our engineering practices and technical quality across the end to end software lifecycle
- Driving and facilitating the transition towards a DevOps culture, fostering a mindset of continuous integration, delivery, and deployment
- Arbitrating technical discussions and resolving conflicts within the team
- Building an excellent relationship with peers in the team [Design, Product, etc.] and aligning on key decisions
- Ensuring your team ships work with care, safely, with attention to detail, whilst also owning the operational excellence of the team's delivery
- Ensuring that incidents are managed to maximise the opportunity to learn and minimise the opportunity for re-occurrence
- Engage in hands-on technical contributions when required, leveraging expertise to resolve complex technical challenges and provide guidance to the team
- Process & culture: fostering inclusive, healthy and high performing teams
- Creating effective systems and processes to manage delivery. Ensuring a sustainable team velocity by balancing short and long term priorities and implementing processes. Escalating effectively and in a timely manner to the appropriate people
- Organising the team's work by setting appropriate milestones and creating a culture of ownership within the team. Pushes for decision making at the lowest level and unblocks the team when barriers arise
- Building a people-first, collaborative and empathetic environment
- Collaborating in organisational design, ensuring the right sizing of the team to deliver on team and company goals, and setting the foundations for the healthy growth of Product and Engineering

- We want to be a leader in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), so we’re working hard to drive the change we want to see in the world, inside Multiverse.
- Everything we do in the DEI space is undertaken with the goal of being representative of the geographies in which we operate – and our apprentice community. Gender diversity has been a long-term challenge for the tech world. We're proud that 55% of our UK Team identify as women, this increases to 64% of our Global Leadership Team (director level and above). We're also proud of our thriving LGBTQQIAAP community, comprising 11% of our UK Team.
- We're committed to improving the diversity of our workforce, at all levels. We continue to invest in early talent through our in-house apprenticeship scheme – something we know is a fantastic route into our organization for exceptional talent from a diversity of backgrounds.
- Last year we identified improving the diversity of our Global Leadership Team (director level+) internally as an area of focus. Steps that we took included introducing robust DEI monitoring processes, rolling out Inclusive Recruitment Training to all staff involved in the hiring, and launching our first internal, Global Leadership Accelerator program.
