Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of professional visual/graphic design experience in a consumer tech, media, or digital agency environment
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) and Figma
- A strong portfolio showcasing graphic design, illustration, and digital product marketing work
- Excellent visual storytelling skills and the ability to translate brand strategy into cohesive designs
- Superior communication and presentation abilities, with experience articulating design rationale to stakeholders
What the job involves
- As a Senior Visual Designer, you’ll lead the visual execution of high-impact graphic and brand initiatives across Patreon’s product, sales, and internal channels. You’ll partner with various teams to showcase a consistent and compelling presentation of product UI for different audiences:
- Sales enablement assets. Arm our Sales teams with on-brand collateral that represent the product vision through thoughtful storytelling and compelling UI visuals
- Product marketing moments. Support the Brand marketing team with product visuals for feature launches and in-product promotions
- Internal storytelling & presentations. Partner with Product and Design leadership to create beautiful presentations that align stakeholders company-wide
- Brand-in-product visual assets. Work with the Product Design team to create custom iconography, illustrations, and motion assets within the product
- Work with Product Design team to transform feature screens into polished, presentable assets that align with go-to-market moments and are suitable for various use cases, ensuring appropriate content and visual consistency
- Develop and maintain sales-ready visual decks that reflect Patreon’s product features and value props
- Design internal company-wide presentations that clearly communicate product vision and metrics
- Support Brand team initiatives to craft visually compelling in-product marketing assets to highlight new features and seasonal campaigns
- Create and maintain on-brand iconography, illustrations, and micro-animations for use across web and mobile
- Collaborate closely with Product Designers, Brand Design, and Marketing partners to ensure visuals are consistent with the brand and integrate seamlessly
Our take
Creatives face two major struggles in the online space: getting eyes (or ears) on their work, and getting paid for it. Patreon was founded to solve both problems with a platform that would provide a space for creators to host and promote their work, and offer supporters a way to show their support through a regular paid subscription.
Patreon has been a leader in the content subscription space since its founding, but recently has come under pressure from newer rivals such as Substack and Ko-fi. It has maintained its position by shifting its focus from being primarily a marketplace for supporters to find creatives that interest them to being a toolbox for content creators to promote their work. While the site's creatives value this approach it remains to be seen whether Patreon will be able to return to the growth it was enjoying in previous years.
Despite the inroads made by competitors and a troubling global economic outlook making finances tougher for content creators and their supporters, Patreon is still a leader in its space, with over 250,000 active creators having made $3.5B through the platform.
