Role
Who you are
- We are looking for a commercially minded, highly analytical, and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our London-based finance team
- Part-qualified or recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- 2–4 years of experience in management accounting or financial reporting
- Strong MS Office & Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modelling)
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working with stakeholders across different functions and levels
- The ability to build effective working relationships with both internal and external partners
- Pro-active, self-motivated and eager to acquire knowledge about the business
- Ability to work well under pressure, working accurately with attention to detail and able to meet deadlines
- The ability to always demonstrate confidentiality and diplomacy
What the job involves
- Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role plays a critical part in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles, and partnering with key departments across the business
- The ideal candidate will take ownership of core month-end responsibilities, deliver meaningful financial insights, and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes in a fast-paced, international environment
- Prepare revenue reporting for multiple UK revenue streams and post monthly journals, ensuring accurate revenue recognition
- Ensure Cost of Sales and Operating Expenses are accurate with appropriate accruals
- Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs for stakeholders
- Present financial analysis and collaborate with both financial and non-financial stakeholders to inform business decisions
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items
- Prepare year-end financial statements for subsidiaries in compliance with applicable standards
- Ownership, monthly review, and monitoring of the UK fixed assets and intangible asset registers
- Own the UK cashflow reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely submission
- Assist the AP/AR Controller and Credit team with debt collection and AP controls
- Support the development of annual budgets and periodic reforecasts in collaboration with the Financial Controller and department heads
- Partner with global functional leads across HR, Legal, Technology, Marketing, and Content to track and analyse expenditure
- Coordinate audit deliverables and act as a key contact for external auditors during the year-end process
- Contribute to ad hoc projects such as acquisitions, strategic reporting, and system/process improvements
- Drive improvements to financial operations and reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency
- Ad hoc tasks as required & deputising when the Financial Controller is unavailable

Originally founded in 1968, the aim of Time Out was to provide reliable information about cultural happenings through the form of a magazine. It was intended to be an 'insider's guide' and included details about art, film, concerts, theatres and more.
Since then its diversified to include food and restaurants, and has straddled both the travel and hospitality sectors. And to keep up with the times, it has transitioned to digital advertising and social media.
Its also received new equity investment through a 2016 IPO, and made big strategic moves from this. Part of this move included stopping the print publication and instead placing a greater emphasis on its digital content. Time Out's current CEO, Chris Ohlund, has said he would be leading the company into its 'next phase of global growth' which has so far included the announcement of a global video collaboration program amongst its digital innovations.
