Role
Who you are
- Java: 5+ years of professional experience with Java (Version 11 or higher preferred)
- SQL / Databases: Expert-level knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and query tuning
- Frameworks: Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, or Hibernate
- Architecture: Deep understanding of Microservices, RESTful APIs, and Event-Driven Architecture
- Tools: Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab), and build tools (Maven/Gradle)
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Clear communication skills
- Ability to lead projects independently
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant industry certifications are desirable
Desirable
- Scala: Hands-on experience or a strong functional programming background using Scala
- Big Data: Exposure to Apache Spark, Kafka, or Hadoop ecosystems
- Cloud: Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience in banking or financial services industry
What the job involves
- We are seeking an experienced Senior Java / SQL Developer to join our growing engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-grade applications and data solutions
- You will work across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with architects, developers, DevOps engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions
- This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and mentoring junior team members
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and services
- Build and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database solutions
- Develop scalable APIs and microservices architectures
- Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, and performance issues
- Participate in code reviews and promote development best practices
- Ensure adherence to security, quality, and performance standards
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
- Support production systems and critical business applications
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to the technical growth of the team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Agile delivery environments
