Who you are

3+ years of experience in Tier II support, systems administration, or QA engineering
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
Proficiency with Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes
Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware and software domains
Hands-on experience with hardware setup, installation, and calibration
Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, DHCP)
Team-oriented with a customer-first mindset
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
Familiarity with networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers)
Comfortable using tools like Zendesk, JIRA, and Confluence
Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities under pressure
Ability and willingness to work on second shift - hours 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm PST
The role may also require travel, working in varying environmental conditions, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Technical Customer Support Engineer Tier II to join our Support team
You’ll be part of the Delivery department, working cross-functionally to assist with the installation, configuration, and calibration of our products—while serving as a key problem-solver for our customers and internal teams
In this role, you’ll provide real-time technical support to our Field Service Engineers and Field Support Technicians, helping to ensure product stability, reliability, and exceptional customer experience
This position includes working on the second shift, hours 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm PST
Assist in the installation, configuration, and calibration of UVeye products for clients
Provide on-site technical support during product installations to ensure proper setup and operation
Troubleshoot and resolve customer technical issues related to machine performance and software
Monitor, maintain, and update systems to ensure continuous product functionality
Prepare detailed documentation and reports on installation and calibration activities
Act as a technical point of contact for clients during installation, calibration, and troubleshooting
Attend occasional in-person meetings with clients to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware issues on-site
Ensure effective incident management by tracking and resolving technical issues promptly
This role may involve on-site or field-based activities. Depending on the position, tasks may include extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking; working in and around vehicle service areas, rental facilities, dealerships, manufacturing sites, or warehouse environments; and performing occasional manual tasks such as lifting or carrying up to 40 lbs, bending, or reaching

Our take

UVeye has developed contact-free vehicle inspection systems that leverage AI, ML, and computer vision to swiftly detect faults and abnormalities in vehicles. It’s a broadening out of UVeye’s original remit, which was inspection devices for military and police organisations - although sensitive security facilities like embassies and power plants still make up a critical part of UVeye’s business.

This pivot provided a real shot in the arm for UVeye, especially for its US expansion, where it struck gold in the automotive sector. Healthy funding has now come from major players like Toyota Tsusho, Hyundai Motors and Volvo, and the latter has committed to a long-term contract to install the tech in all its North American dealerships.

UVeye is astutely doubling down on its penetration into the $100B+ US automotive industry through flirting with expansions into the insurance sector - it’s partnered, for example, with W.R. Berkley. Insurance tech in this region is throwing itself into data-led digital transformation, and a system that allows UVeye to explore this kind of partnership alongside lucrative manufacturing and defence contracts makes for a very promising position indeed.
