Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of professional experience in development or DevOps
- Ability to influence and communicate cross-functionally and across teams
- Expert knowledge of Linux and administration of Linux VMs and Docker containers
- Experience building cloud-based infrastructure solutions (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (i.e. Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Sentry, Nagios, etc)
- Expertise with Infrastructure-as-code concepts and tools, such as Terraform
- Expertise with configuration management concepts and tools, such as Ansible
- Proficient with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (i.e. Jenkins, BitBucket pipelines, GitHub Actions, etc)
- Previous experience with agile methodologies to plan and manage daily tasks
- Proficiency in Python or other programming languages, with hands on experience in backend programming
- Experience administering PostgreSQL or other databases
- Ability to quickly identify problems or bottlenecks in everyday processes and suggest improvements
- Ability to take initiative, innovate and experiment
- Provide support in an on call rotation
- Knowledge of branching and release management processes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable
- Automated QA test experience using tools such as Playwright, Locust, etc
- Background as a software developer, proficient at contributing to a collective code base
- Knowledge of IT compliance and risk management requirements (e.g. policies, SOC, ISO, etc.)
- DevSecOps experience, including scanning, vulnerability management, security assessment, etc
- Experience using AWS services such as ECS, S3, ECR, Batch and Lambda
- Prior experience building and maintaining a successful SaaS platform
- Prior experience working in a company either in startup or scale-up stages

- We are on the hunt for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our Development team at Bucketlist
- This role is pivotal to our team’s success - be prepared to grow with the team in a challenging but rewarding environment
- We are looking for someone who can help take us through a DevOps transformation, where you can apply your skills and impart your knowledge on a development team that wants to embrace the DevOps mindset
- In this role, you will not only apply your trade, but will work closely with an experienced development team, mentoring them on how to adopt DevOps practices and take more ownership for the operation of the platform in the various environments from development through to production
- Build a strong relationship and collaborate on a day-to-day basis with the development and product teams to understand our product, its code and the infrastructure
- Maintain, design, monitor, benchmark and improve our product’s cloud infrastructure leveraging infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code as much as possible
- Collaborate with non-development team members for the context of the bigger picture
- Work with other team members and take ownership, enhance and document continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) infrastructure for the dev team, optimizing release cycles balanced with quality
- Assist in the collection and documentation of requirements, estimates and roadmap plans
- Help improve our internal security program following industry security standards
- Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team, the architecture and across our code base
- Constantly evaluate build vs buy decisions to minimize time to market while managing cost, quality and vendor lock-in
