Who you are
- 7+ years of work experience. Data operations, consulting, or a similar role preferred
- 3+ years of management/leadership skills
- Perfectionist obsessed with data quality
- Analytical thinker who is able to communicate perspectives clearly
- Gritty, scrappy, and resilient, with a strong bias for action and excited to take on new challenges
- Technical skills: data exploration skills (basic SQL, R or python), BI tools (Azure ADF, SSIS, Talend, Profisee, SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik)

What the job involves
- At Grata, we are looking for an experienced and motivated candidate to lead our Data Operations team
- In this role you will operationalize and oversee 5 research teams who report to team leads and project managers
- As our Data Ops Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of Grata’s data and AI programs by providing leadership, strategic oversight, and operational excellence
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including machine learning team, data engineers, and product managers, to ensure the efficient execution of data initiatives

- We have a unique and proprietary set of data and is one of the reasons we are leading in the market. We want someone in this role to optimize data collection workflows, establish scalable processes for the Data Operation teams and monitor the department’s progress
- Establish and optimize scalable data collection and data audit workflows and contribute to the success of data-driven projects
- Set goals and expectations for team leads and hold staff accountable for performance goals
- Oversee data quality outputs across 5 Data Operations teams by conducting data validation and quality checks
- Build and maintain dashboards and interactive visualizations that convey key performance metrics for the department as well as analytical insights for the organization
- Prepare Executive read-out of performance, activities and success of 5 Data Operations teams, which includes analysis of performance data, shifts in trends and recommendations of adjustments needed
- Incorporate customer satisfaction as a component of ensuring Data Operations team success with an emphasis on generating innovative ways to continually improve results
- Partner with product managers and engineering teams to contribute to data strategy and data management
- Oversee daily operational activities, identifying and implementing improvements to streamline processes and maximize efficiency
- Continuously develop and implement strategies for operational improvement, driving efficiency and effectiveness
- Provide guidance and hands-on training to the Data Operations department on process improvements
- Drive department effectiveness to impact the business’ overall effectiveness
- This is a high-impact, high-visibility role interacting directly with Grata’s executive leaders and cross-functional managers
Our take
Grata offers investors a way of locating and targeting private companies through its B2B search engine. The engine leverages Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to collect distributed company data, giving potential stakeholders greater insight into middle-market businesses.
It’s remarkable that, despite the middle market making up 99% of all US businesses, it’s long been a very difficult sector to gain any real insight or access to. Now that millions of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are going online, however, a solution like Grata’s makes it much easier to find key information as investors weigh up their options.
While the likes of SourceScrub, which focuses on the financial services industry, are also making inroads in the B2B search engine niche, the fact that Grata is both industry-non-specific and market-focused could play to its advantage. That being said, it also scales up the challenge for the company’s tech to provide actionable insights for dealmakers.
With plenty of funding at its back, the company is looking to continue to refine its machine-learning capabilities moving forward. It has also been working to expand its customer list, which already includes the likes of Providence Equity, Denali Growth Partner, and One Medical.
