Who you are
- The ideal candidate possesses a strong blend of business acumen and technical expertise, enabling them to seamlessly transition between business strategy and data development
- BS in a technical field (e.g., CS, IS, Math, Statistics, or Finance) preferred

- 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or equivalent
- Proficiency in Snowflake and dbt

What the job involves
- Instructure is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our Enterprise Systems team. In this role, you will be at the intersection of business and data, responsible for delivering robust, efficient, and integrated data models and products that drive key business decisions
- You will partner with teams across the company to provide data-driven insights and solutions, translating business needs into actionable data strategies
- This individual is responsible for driving understanding and decision-making from data, working with stakeholders at all levels
- Utilize SQL, dbt, Snowflake, and other tools to extract, process, and analyze data to meet business needs
- Collaborate to gather requirements, define analytics outcomes, and design and develop data models (including extending the Enterprise Dimensional Model using dbt)
- Ensure code quality and maintainability through adherence to standards, code reviews, and providing data modeling expertise to teams
- Evaluate compliance reporting needs and build data infrastructure for efficient self-service reporting
- Balance multiple workstreams, influence cross-functionally, and manage priorities to maximize organizational impact
- Establish relationships with stakeholders to identify opportunities for governance and collaboration
- Build metrics, data models, dashboards, and reports to inform business decisions, and deliver actionable recommendations through data analysis and storytelling
- Perform data analysis to identify issues, determine root causes, and implement solutions
- Translate complex business problems into scalable analytical frameworks
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain data models, reports, and dashboards

Instructure is an education technology company, creator of the Canvas Learning Management Platform that allows schools to build the digital learning environment that meets the unique challenges faced by their institution. The platform simplifies teaching, elevates learning, and eliminates the headaches of supporting and growing traditional learning technologies.
The Canvas platform has grown to become a key part of a large number of educational institutions, from pre-school to higher education and beyond. Much of Instructure's workforce is dedicated to R&D, which is unusual for a company of their size, and shows their focus on innovating.
Founded back in 2008, the company has claimed numerous successes, including going international and hitting the $1 billion market cap. It has made a number of acquisitions, most recently of Concentric Sky and LearnPlatform. The former saw Instructure incorporate Sky's "Badgr" into its ecosystem as "Canvas Badges", whereas the latter adds evidence-based insights to the platform - both cementing its commitment to building the education industry's most integrated teaching and learning platform to support lifelong learning.
Instructure was itself acquired in 2024 by KKR, which will support a broad-based equity ownership program for Instructure employees. This strategy is based on a strategy of employee ownership as a cause of stronger companies. The move is a promising one considering KKRs track record of acquired companies, but time will tell how Intructure fares.
