What the job involves

As we go through our next level of scale, Dandy is building a world class Machine Learning & Computer Vision team to enhance our 3D dental platform and automate many of the human-driven processes in our manufacturing today
The global, remote team tackles problems involving 3D geometric computer vision, generative deep learning, and SOTA machine learning methods
As a part of this newly created team, you will play a key role in laying the foundation that will drive the team’s success
You will establish best practices, solve ambiguous data problems that have never been solved before with industry wide impact, and be given the freedom to innovate
Build Computer Vision models to extract structure from unstructured, information-dense 3D scans
Research SOTA methods for developing models to accomplish 3D generative AI tasks as well as conventional computer vision tasks
Work with product and research teams to identify opportunities for improvement in our current product line and for enabling upcoming product lines
Work with massive datasets to develop both generic models as well as fine tune models for specific applications
Develop evaluation methods which allow us to establish confidence in our datasets and models
Implement best practices for our MLOps pipelines
Work closely with product owners on a feature focused team to deliver value quickly to Dandy’s customers

Dentistry, a $400B industry, has long relied on outdated practices. Dandy was created to modernize and simplify dental operations by integrating technology into every aspect of the dental practice. Its goal is to streamline workflows, making dental practices more efficient and easier to manage.

While other startups have tried to bring technology to the dental field, Dandy distinguishes itself by understanding the industry's complexity and respecting the way dentists operate. Rather than overwhelming practitioners with a complete overhaul, Dandy introduces new features gradually, such as digitizing dental labs for procedures like crowns and implants. It makes the dental experience seamless for both sides of the chair, and to date, more than 2 million people use a Dandy dental product daily.

Dandy aims to build a full operating system for dental practices, offering a "business-in-a-box" solution that allows dentists to focus on patient care while the platform handles administrative and operational tasks. While this vision has the potential to bring immense value to a field in need of innovation, the challenge lies in overcoming dentistry's resistance to change. Patience and persistence will be key as Dandy reshapes how dental professionals run their practices.
