Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of Product Management experience
- Experience managing ad tech products and platforms
- Experience working in deeply technical domains with the ability to quickly ramp up when onboarding into new areas
- Experience partnering with technical audiences and “translating” to senior audiences across functions
- Direct experience partnering with Engineering and Product teams to identify new roadmap opportunities and improvements
- Ability to manage and align multiple stakeholders
Desirable
- Fluent in API and web app technologies
- Experience in influencing and building out multi year strategy
What the job involves
- We are seeking a senior product manager to build and extend Carrot Ads - the technology suite retailers use to run their own retail media network
- This scope includes the APIs retailers use to build their own retail media network, and the toolset they use to manage their advertiser base
- You will work in collaboration with R&D, data science, data engineering and commercial leadership to build the foundation that powers how we surface data to internal and external customers
- This is a unique opportunity to have end to end ownership of a technical platform for the company that is core to our growth
- Your portfolio will directly impact how some of the world’s largest retailers scale their ad businesses and reinvest in their core offering
- The Advertiser Experience team owns the set of systems that power our advertising facing offerings (inclusive of Instacart Ads Manager, Instacart Ads API, Carrot Ads, and Ads Measurement and Data Pipelines)
- Our teams own the E2E systems from our back-end platforms and data that power a complex ecosystem of CPGs, retailers, customers, and operators
- We are a passionate team of 100+ engineers, data scientists, designers, marketers and product managers focused on driving growth for CPGs
- We work hard to make sure everyone is brought along for the journey as we ship award winning products and services to the industry
- Manage the roadmap and execution for Carrot Ads for a diverse set of retailers and use cases
- Drive forward strategy on all aspects of Carrot Ads, especially our ability to speed up retailer integrations and provide them with a comprehensive toolkit to manage their RMN
- Lead product planning, product & customer discovery, the product development process, effort estimation, and collaboration with teams across the organization
- Build and maintain customer-facing APIs with a complex ecosystem of 3rd party partners like retailers, marketplaces, and aggregators
- Ensure Carrot Ads meets the highest standards for uptime, reliability, and speed of integration
- Intake & validate new ideas through a set of frameworks and drive them into implementable projects
- Advocate for developer experience throughout the entire Ads and Eversight R&D organization, and build tools that allow Sales Engineering to rapidly decrease implementation cost

Instacart is an online grocery marketplace that operates a pick-up and delivery system in the US and Canada. Unlike standard grocery shopping, Instacart sends a “personal shopper” to your local store to buy your products, who then delivers them straight to your door on the same day via their own car. The company also supplies the Instacart Platform, with services for stores encompassing eCommerce, fulfilment, in-store, ads, and insights.
The increased modernization of society has meant more than ever that consumers are looking to buy their groceries online, making space for apps like Instacart to become daily life staples for years to come. Although the company must compete with other grocery store delivery services, such as Walmart’s own, it has expanded to cover large percentages of US and Canadian households, and is now aligned with over 900 retail banners across more than 75,000 locations.
Instacart's software offerings signify the company's focus on tech, designed to move it away from its dependence on the gig economy. To this end, the company has acquired FoodStorm, an order management system that powers end-to-end order-ahead and catering, integrating its technology into its enterprise suite. Despite an IPO in September 2023, market downturns have necessitated a 7% workforce cut in 2024, focused on middle management and creating a flatter organisational structure. With a new streamlined workforce, here's to hoping Instacart can maintain its momentum.
