What the job involves
- As a Product Manager - Payment Innovations (d/f/m) at orderbird, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of innovative payment solutions
- You will be the driving force behind the advancement of our payment products by developing a deep understanding of our customers' needs and devising the right market entry strategies

- Taking the ownership of one of our highest valued revenue generating products and lead with Vision
- Scaling Integrated Payment Solutions: Collaborate closely with Nexi to expand and scale our integrated payment solutions in the DACH region, driving adoption and maximising value for our customers
- Make our Payment onboarding the best and easiest in the industry!
- Customer Experience and Value Proposition: Deliver a seamless customer experience and a high-value proposition to maximise product adoption throughout our customer base in the DACH region
- Development Item Identification: Collaborate with internal teams, including support and sales, as well as external stakeholders to identify and define new potential development items to enhance our payment solutions
- Backlog and Product Roadmap: Create, maintain, and prioritise the product backlog and roadmap, making informed, data-driven decisions
- Managing Dependencies: Work closely with other product managers to handle dependencies and synergies, ensuring a cohesive product strategy
- Ownership of Payment-Related Solutions: Take ownership of payment-related solutions, such as E-receipts, smart payment terminals, and Pay onboarding, ensuring their success and ongoing improvement
- OKR Monitoring: Monitor and report on your product's OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), measuring progress and success against predefined goals
Our take
There has been a substantial rise in contactless payments in recent years, limited seating arrangements, and remote administrative work within the hospitality industry. Digital POS systems have presented themselves as useful tools to handle these changes, but existing software is generally purpose-specific and is only affordable to large businesses.
Orderbird provides a digital POS system for the European hospitality industry, integrating cash register features, contactless card payment functionality, and financial compliance features within an iPad application. The company also provides additional features such as reservation and waiting list management software, in addition to “practice mode” features for staff training.
Various other startups are tackling the urgent need for digital solutions within the hospitality industry, but Orderbird has taken a unique approach by providing a service that covers multiple challenges and is affordable and convenient to any business size. By providing various pricing tiers, the company serves businesses from food trucks to large restaurant chains, and they are focused on expanding into new markets moving forwards.
Orderbird was acquired by Italian fintech company Nexi in May 2022, a move that will propel both companies toward sustainable futures.
