Who you are

Expertise in relational databases, SQL (especially SQL Server Management Studio 2012), and Snowflake. Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with additional experience in ETL/ELT processes using tools like SSIS and dbt
Demonstrable skill in crafting, building and maintaining data pipelines and systems, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and consistency. Familiarity with data warehousing, data modeling, and big data technologies like Hadoop and Spark
Effective collaboration with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand needs and design data solutions. Strong communication skills to share knowledge and best practices across teams
Skilled in automating data processes and pipelines to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort. Experience with tools like DataIku and Informatica PowerCenter for data interrogation and manipulation
Ability to develop scalable and robust data solutions to handle large datasets and high data volumes. Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to data pipelines and systems, ensuring optimal performance

What the job involves

Are you ready to be part of our high-profile Life Data Engineering Team? We are seeking an enthusiastic Data Engineering Associate to join our innovative team at Aviva, helping shape the future of the life insurance business
You will use SQL and Python-based tools like DBT and Snowflake to transform raw data from multiple systems into business-focused information
This data will be used for a range of purposes, from Data Science and Informational Dashboards to Reporting and Self-service queries by analysts
Work across all business lines, delivering data analytics solutions for pricing, risk cost, and underwriting, as well as customer-facing initiatives in claims, fraud, and beyond
Interpret business problems and build suitable data solutions in the form of “Data Products.”
Collaborate with data scientists to provide data that enables them to solve business problems through data science
Support regular load processes and maintain data environments
Assist with data governance processes to ensure data is used correctly by the right people
Collaborate with other business lines, data engineering functions, and IT within Aviva, sharing knowledge, ideas, and best practices
