Who you are
- Extremely strong software engineering skills
- Proficiency in Python and related ML frameworks such as Tensorflow, TF-Serving, JAX, and XLA/MLIR
- Deep experience in building and leading a product-centric organisation
- Direct experience working as part of a team building Large Language Models
- Released multiple features with several iterations
- Strong track record of creating and curating large-scale datasets
- Experience using large-scale distributed training strategies
- Familiarity with autoregressive sequence models, such as Transformers
- Ability to collaborate effectively with human annotators and cross-functional teams
- Paper at top-tier venues (such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AIStats, MLSys, JMLR, AAAI, Nature, COLING, ACL, EMNLP)

- Research and experiment with novel ideas on our supercomputer and data infrastructure, ensuring our products remain at the forefront of the industry
- Collaborate with top researchers, engineers, and annotators to create and evaluate data for post-training LLMs, ensuring our products are of the highest quality and performance
- Engage with the latest AI and deep learning research, staying up to date with leading conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, and AAAI
- Leverage product data to understand usage patterns and identify areas for improvement, ensuring our products remain relevant and competitive
- Work closely with leadership to shape company strategy and goals, ensuring our product vision is aligned with our overall business objectives
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and deep learning by regularly reviewing papers from top-tier venues
- Collaborate with leadership to understand and shape company strategy, ensuring our products are aligned with our overall business goals
- Translate research insights and industry trends into actionable product initiatives and features
- Work closely with engineering and design teams to define and prioritise the product roadmap, ensuring we are delivering the most value to our users
- Propose and champion new product ideas, ensuring they are technically feasible and aligned with our overall product vision
- Embrace a startup mentality, moving fast, iterating quickly, and taking initiative to ensure our products remain competitive and innovative
- Build and empower both front-end and backend teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and learning

Our take
The AI industry biggest stakeholders insist that the next step in enhancing web experiences will be through natural language interactions. While this may be true, only companies with considerable resources can reasonably address the gap needed to bring NLP to the forefront of web integration. Cohere was founded to address this shortfall between NLP development, widespread usage, and the resources required.
Cohere works on building top-of-the-class NLP processing models and software which it makes available to customers through APIs and custom solutions. In a strategic move, the company has partnered with Google Cloud, giving them access to resources that will undoubtedly push the field of NLP forward. This allows Cohere to serve as middlemen by offering a wide range of customers a product built on unmatched technology.
AI is currently a worldwide talking point and so it is no surprise that Cohere has seen rapid development, and raised $270M in a 2023 funding round. The company plans to introduce a dialogue model that would resemble ChatGPT, however, in this case, its technology would be mainly accessible to developers and businesses.
